NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- A source described as close to the Bush administration said people inside the White House are "livid" about the way Vice President Dick Cheney's office has handled the hunting accident he was involved in over the weekend, CBS News reported Tuesday.According to CBS News, the source said the issue was no longer Cheney's view of press management but rather about Iraq, Hurricane Katrina and a range of other issues that play into the public's view of the administration's arrogance.
CBS News reported that private signals were being sent that the matter has been handled badly and Cheney needs to come out and say something.

Everyone take a deep breath. The only ones who care about this topic are the White House press corps. Americans consider this a private matter. (yawn)
Time for Bush to fire that janitor!
CBS has the chutzpah to complain of the administration's arrogance? Oh brother.
Well... it would have been, if it weren't for some moronic decisions by the VP's staff.
This is from CBS. Hard to take anything they report as truthful.
The Constitutional Party should take that name up.
Locally the CBS national news comes on before the local news.
They have to be hurting the ratings of the local CBS affiliate.
Even that "arrogance" argument isn't exactly new either.
A source close to the admin huh?
ROFL
Okay, I've stayed out of this to this point but, hey, might as well opine. Everyone else has.
Press core- Bring it on.
The American people think you look like fools, and if a nothing story keeps you occupied while serious matters are attended elsewhere, fine by me. I'd rather give you this stick to gnaw in an election year then more fodder for the terrorists over in the middle east.
Really, while it's absolutely ridiculous the straws you'll clutch, this actually tops the National Guard beat to death tale, it's amusing to watch you implode without you being aware it's happening. :-)
Count me in the group who don't give a damn about what the press THINKS it is entitled to and when they THINK they are entitled to it!!
What? Madeleine Albright?
I don't believe this crap from seebs
It's always someone senior and close to the White House with these people.
As far as I can see, there is no reason at all that these "anonymous sources" or "senior officials speaking on anonymity" could not just be voices in somebody's head. Obviously, an anonymous source is not going to leave a trail by definition. The only guarantee you have is the word of the person who reports it.
The whole thing is much ado about nothing. The VP is fine, and it does not look as if his friend is going to die or anything like that. Perhaps next time they'll get their tax stamp and the other dude will make the call before wandering off. The only entertaining bit about it is watching people who obviously have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to hunting trying to "instruct" the general public on the matter. I would at least appreciate it if they had someone who could intelligently explain what a shotgun was and that you do not usually hunt quail with buckshot.
Second that strategy.
The only thing better than having the press core forcing a strength of the administration center stage, recently NSA taps or the Supreme Court,is to have them grab hold of Bush's National Guard story, or now an accidental shooting. One plays into Bush's/conservatives hands. The other highlights the foolishness of the press core and modern Democrat party. Better than having them leaking new national security secrets, imo. Let them keep it up for weeks. That's an extra few precious weeks where Goss unloads another loose mouth quietly.
My youngest went on his first Dove shoot about 4 years ago with the family. Grandfather, father, brothers, uncles and cousins.
He got the first kill and most Doves. He brought down 2 with his first shot.
"How much lead time did you give then, Son?"
"I dunno. I aimed my gun, closed my eyes and pulled the trigger." (Supervised very closely--not shooting willy-nilly)
He actually expected me to cook those damned birds....I sent them home with my other son.
