I allege the UN will allege that the US alleges to allege to cease funding to the UN for those who allege to have an alleged job that alleges to be of integrity and good for the world.

I wish.

Gitmo detainees should be interrogated "by any means necessary" then equipped with cement galoshes and dropped into the bay. Too d@mn many have released only be found fighting again.

Wait a minute...

Is this the same UN that is nothing but a money laundering scheme?

The same UN implicated in the "oil-for-food" scam?

The same UN that allows Muslims the world over to plunder and murder Christians?

The same UN that has prevented ZERO wars??

Ok, just checkin'...

Is this the new millennium definition of "torture" (giving a prisoner a "mean" look) or the old definition of torture?

Where did you find your authority for executing the detainees? Most of the detainees were captured in Afghanistan and were combatants (Taliban or Al Qaeda).

Yeah, this from an organization whose members like to prey on little refugee girls.

Notice that organizations like the UN and Amnesty International NEVER deal with the real thugs. They pick on western democracies because they know it is safe.

Bottom line, cowardice.

he is right.

The detainees at Gitmo were certainly captured, but the Geneva convention has strict criteria about who is a "lawful" combatant and these are not.

No AQ is a lawful combatant. VERY few taliban were.

No readily identified uniform, easily recognized at a certain distance?
Not fighting under a recognized country's armed forces?
You are an unlawful combatant and may be summarily executed.

No, these prisoners should be returned to their homes...from about 5000 feet, without the benefit of a parachute..

They were found on a battlefield armed and *not* wearing the uniform of a national military. Legally, that makes them spies. Spies are at the complete mercy of the officer in charge, and he may deal with them in any way he sees fit. If the CO so chooses, a spy may be executed for any reason at all, up to and including the CO decided he didn't like the detainee's haircut. Spies live solely on the sufferance of their captor.

I say we gather signatures from everyone demanding we get out of the UN now. Whichever republican candidate promises that on day one he/she will get us out of the UN gets our block vote. I'm absolutely tired of KA and the UN BS!!!!!

I don't believe that any of the combatants had a real uniform, other than the traditional Paki type pajamas. I would hesitate to call these guys spies because of their clothing.

However, hasn't the Bush Administration announced that it considers them combatants in the "War on Terror." Is there not a class of combatants that are not "in uniform" fighting for a foreign power (although argubaly the Taliban were fighting for the state of Afghanistan), but not spies?

The Geneva convetion is pretty unforgiving on this point. The detainees should be praising Allah that the UCMJ does prohibit what the Geneva convention does not.
