Don't really know what Mohammed's tush looked like but it might have looked like one of those. Answer: Mohammed-tushen.

"Hamentashen" are a traditional food of Purim, which commemoratea the events in the Book of Esther, which took place in Persia (Iran).

Thanks! I actually know what they are - I went to Hebrew school until the year of my bar-mitzvah. But 1987 was a while ago, so thanks for reminding me of the Persian connection. And NO WAY should Israel sully Purim by attaching that man's name to its signature food.

Could someone please explain the question?

The Persian historically evil figure, Haman, wore a 3 cornered hat. The cookies were a sweet and funny joke on his hat. It quickly became a custom to bake "Haman"-tashen, or a Haman cookie to bite as a Purim treat.

I'm always amazed they honour the memory of a Jewish queen. Her tomb is there as well, isn't it?

Not a bad idea! It's easier to say Hamantashen though!

Keep the name for the cookie (and keep the poppy seed ones coming). However, just call Ahmadinejad "Haman" and things will soon be in proper perspective.
