Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened,
And I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me,
For I am gentle and humble in heart,
And you will find rest for your souls,
For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

Natthew 11: 28-30

Dear Heavenly Father, we bow before You this day, praising You that You are a God who keeps promises, and whose word is Truth, and we thank You that You are always there for us, regardless of whether or not we feel Your presence. We know that You are with us, and when we are weary, we can find rest in You.

Dear Lord, we thank You for a President who also knows You as Lord and Savior, and we ask that he might leave all of his burdens upon You and might rest his soul in Your love. We pray that he would be granted wisdom and discernment in every decision, large or small, which he must make; that he would be planted firmly in Your word and be in constant prayer, and that he might rest in the knowledge that You are protecting him and guiding him through days of difficulty and challenge. We ask that You would be a blessing in his life, and in Laura's as well, Lord, and ask that You would grant them both safe travels, and that You would keep them both in prayer and study so that they might reflect Your love to the thousands of people with whom they come in contact. Bless Barbara and Jenna, dear Lord, and help them to grow closer to You, and to mature in depth as young women who have yielded their lives to You.

We pray a special prayer of thanksgiving today for the rapid recovery of Harry Whittington, and thank You for the fact that he was strong and well enough to address the American people, and even to convey his sympathy for what Vice President Cheney has had to endure this week. Lord, we confess that our anger flares and our patience grows thin with the attacks on the Vice President and the President from the left. Lord, if it be Your will, we pray that they would be silenced, and that the evil that they speak would be stopped. We pray for the truth to be known to the American people, and that those who believe in justice and righteousness would all be in prayer for the defeat of those who have thrown out values and honesty in their quest for political power. We pray for the Vice President; that his health would be strong and that You would also heal his emotions and the pain from what he has had to deal with this past week. Thank You, Lord, for the service and sacrifice of both our President and Vice President, and protect them both against the arrows of the Enemy.

We pray for our troops, especially those in harm's way, and we ask that You would place a shield of protection over each one of them. Give them courage and confidence, and a sense of peace in knowing that they are doing what is just and good in their missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Be with their families at home, that they might feel Your comforting arms around them.

And finally, dear Lord, we pray for America. Lord, we love this land, and we thank You for all the blessings that You have showered on us as a people - especially the freedom that we have to speak and live, and worship as You have led us to. We pray that we might never take those freedoms for granted, and that we will always know that it is only in You that true freedom is found. We pray all these things in the powerful and loving Name of Jesus, who is the Christ, Amen.

Beautifully put, thank you. This thread gives me so much hope and joy.

Heavenly Father, we submit to you our prayers for the emotional and physical well-being of our leaders George Bush and Dick Cheney.

Our hearts are heavy when we see the enormous burdens and challenges these good men face. Help them to know always, even in the darkest hours, that they are following Your call to lead this country and this world. Help them bear lightly the burden that their calling takes on them.

We pray that you will grant us all the will to be grounded in this life and the vision and understanding to see that larger life that awaits.

Joining you in prayer.

Lord, I'm in the dark
Seems to me the line is dead when I come calling
No one there, the sky is falling
Lord I need to know
My mind is playing games again
You're right where You have always been

Take me back to You
The place that I once knew
As a little child
Constantly the eyes of God watched over me
Oh I want to be
In the place that I once knew
As a little child
Fall into the bed of faith prepared for me

I will rest in You
I will rest in You
I will rest in You

Tell me I'm a fool
Tell me that You love me for the fool I am
And comfort me like only You can
And tell me there's a place
Where I can feel Your breath
Like sweet caresses on my face again

Take me back to You
The place that I once knew
As a little child
Constantly the eyes of God watched over me
Oh I want to be
In the place that I once knew
As a little child
Fall into the bed of faith prepared for me

I will Rest in You
I will rest in You
I will rest in You
I Will Rest in You; Michelle Tumes & Brent Burgeios

We ask you Lord to grant peace and understanding for what has gone on this week. We thank you for strength of character in both the President and Vice President and ask that you grant them both a peaceful, restful and enjoyable weekend.

We thank you that Harry Whittington was well enough to leave the hospital today and we pray that this signals the beginning of the end to this media circus.

We thank you for how the President and Vice President have handled this difficult situation and pray that they can now get back to concentrating on keeping America and Americans safe and prosperous.

In Jesus name Amen

"Amen, rightgirl. The Lord hears our prayers in His holy dwelling!"

And is faithful to our prayers! I have been thinking of these lyrics ever since you posted the "great is thy faithfulness" verse, and wanted to share. I think this hymn really sums up our Lord's love and faithfulness to us.

Great is thy faithfulness
Oh God my father
There is no shadow of turning with thee
Thou changest not
Thy compassions they fail not
As thou hast been
Thou forever will be

Summer and Winter
Springtime and harvest
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join in all nature in manifold witness
To thy great faithfulness
Mercy and love

Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness
Lord unto me
(So Great)

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide
Your strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine with ten thousand aside

Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning
New mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness
Lord unto me

AMEN OHIO AND GRACE TO ALL SAINTS!

O changeless God,

Under the conviction of thy Spirit I learn that

the more I do, the worse I am,

the more I know, the less I know,

the more holiness I have, the more sinful I am,

the more I love, the more there is to love.

O wretched man that I am!

O Lord,

I have a wild heart,

and cannot stand before thee;

I am like a bird before a man.

How little I love thy truth and ways!

I neglect prayer,

by thinking I have prayed enough and earnestly,

by knowing thou hast saved my soul.

Of all hypocrites, grant that I may not be

an evangelical hypocrite,

who sins more safely because grace abounds,

who tells his lusts that Christ’s blood

cleanseth them,

who reasons that God cannot cast him into hell,

for he is saved,

who loves evangelical preaching, churches,

Christians, but lives unholily.

My mind is a bucket without a bottom,

with no spiritual understanding,

no desire for the Lord’s Day,

ever learning but never reaching the truth,

always at the gospel-well but never holding water.

My conscience is without conviction or contrition,

with nothing to repent of.

My will is without power of decision or resolution.

My heart is without affection, and full of leaks.

My memory has no retention,

so I forget easily the lessons learned,

and thy truths seep away.

Give me a broken heart that yet carries home

the water of grace.

A PURITANS PRAYER!

Wow. What a prayer!

So many years ago, but voicing exactly the problems our sinful nature cause us this very day. These words, especially.....

"How little I love thy truth and ways!

I neglect prayer,

by thinking I have prayed enough and earnestly,

by knowing thou hast saved my soul."

Thank you for a prayer that the Holy Spirit can use to convict us all, alpha. God bless you!
