Bill Frist's Cheney Defense Leaves Bob Schieffer Fuming

Sen. Majority Leader Bill Frist told CBS "Face the Nation" host Bob Schieffer on Sunday that Democrats were playing "partisan politics" with Dick Cheney's hunting accident last weekend - a charge that left Mr. Schieffer fuming.

"What America does not want to see is what happened right afterwards, and that is that the Democratic leadership tried to inject partisan politics into what is a very, very tragic accident," First told Schieffer, who bristled at the remarks.

"But Senator," the veteran newsman protested, "ah - I mean - didn't - didn't - shouldn't [the hunting accident] have been made public but for no other reason than the administration and the vice president's own good? I mean, one can understand that he clearly was not thinking straight. Who would, after thinking they'd killed their best friend?"

Schieffer continued to insist that Democrat attacks on Cheney were legitimate, then asked: "Has the vice president become of liability to the White House? Has he become a liability to your party?"

Frist countered: "Absolutely not. Absolutely not. He is a bold leader. He understands and works very closely with the vision of the President of the United States in securing America's future for a safer, stronger country. That means he has to be both a leader as well as a participant and I think he does it very, very well."

Moments later, the Tennessee Republican reiterated: "I don't think it is appropriate to inject partisan politics into this particular incident."

NEVER FORGET

CLINTON's breaking his ankle gave him the excuse he needed to keep from having to hold Presidential TV News Conferences for over 3 months...

...just as investigations of his own worst CHINA-GATE misbehaviors were firing up in Congress.

NEVER FORGET

Scheiffer at least needs to put his teeth in before he goes on the air.

Schieffer's been a Democrat Party waterboy his entire career. I can't understand why anyone is surprised by his behavior now. I put "Face the Nation" on my "Don't Watch" list long ago and knew what kind of anchor he'd be. He's right out of the ultra-liberal See B.S. mold.

I read somewhere that the mishap at Norman's was a cover for surgery to straighten out the bent Willie.

What good would it have done? I'm sure that a man recovering from being shot in the face doesn't need to be hounded by the MSM, nor does a grieving man. So, Mr.Schieffer what good would it have done?

The only good would be for the Republican haters. They would have got an extra day to manipulate a hunting accident for political gain.

And how long was it, and under what circumstances, that Clinton finally admitted what he'd done with an intern? And how long did it take Al Gore to speak publicly about his son being arrested for DUI? (I think drugs were involved, also.)

You should know that none of your post applies to Cheney because he is a robot.

The real Dick Cheney was replaced a few years ago, bad ticker and all.

The dictator emperor Bush could not risk Cheney having a heart attack and expose bush as the idiot frat boy he really is.

Cheney is the real absolute ruler of the Neocons.

Everybody at DU knows that.

I have no idea who VP Cheney's best friends are, but why on earth would Cheney think Mr. Whittington had been killed? Schieffer doesn't hunt much, does he?

When Bubba got drunk, fell down Golfer Greg Norman's stairs and broke his ankle; did the White House notify the press immediately or wait for him to sober up?

He wasn't drunk...have you ever tried to go down some stairs with your pants around your ankles?

"Shieffer is now fuming? Add to that steaming and stinking."

Like Dan Rather, he stinks like Pepe LePew. Asking a MSM talking head to try and be fair
is like asking Pepe to use some roll-on deodorant: a waste of time.

not hear about. It is good to hear Frist get old Bagdag Bob.

that he clearly was not thinking straight.

Repeat the lie enough, MSM, and within a few months this will be referred to in just this way. Can't you see Davey Gregory on Matthews talking about something else and saying "But the Vice President has ALWAYS had this problem, such as when he couldn't think straight after the SHOOTING incident."

Headline to appear soon enough: CHENEY NUTS!

Had Cheney released this story last Saturday night, the old media would be screaming and yelling that he released it on a Saturday night with the sole intention of burying the story. Old media hate Bush and Cheney and they will work as hard as they can to make up any scandal to try to harm them. All the while, old media only continues to harm themselves with their oh-so-self-importance and arrogance in their "reporting". They have gotten beyond laughable.

I mean, one can understand that he clearly was not thinking straight.

You're wrong, Bobby. Mr. Cheney was thinking very clearly. He knew it was far more important to get emergency first aid to his friend and make sure he was taken immediately to the hospital than it was to make sure the media met them at the Emergency Room entrance.

Oh, and, you're a Dimocrat shill masquerading as a news anchor, Bobby.
