From a linked site:

"The Midwest’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender social service agency, Horizons Community Services, Inc., has provided a wide array of counseling, support, referral, advocacy and educational programs for more than 25 years, and is a United Way Member Agency."

If being gay is so normal, then why is all the money earmarked for counseling and support, etc?

Re: DuPage was never CONSERVATIVE, it's REPUBLICAN

DePage has always had a split personality, best illustrated by Pate Phillips running the State Senate and Lee Daniels running the House.

>> Got Guv? I'm voting for JO precisely because Brady has been in the Legislature for 12 years. Professional pols are a big part of the problem IMO. <<

I'm voting for Brady precisely because I'm sick and tired of seeing the SAME names on a statewide ballot EVERY election cycle for at least three elections in a row:

Ryan (R)
Oberweis (R)
Raunshenberger (R)
Cox (R)
Topinka (R)

Oberweis is a professional politician, indeed he's a perennial politician. The only difference is he's an UNSUCESSFUL politician who has never been elected. Still, that doesn't change the fact we have a good chance at seeing a Ryan/Oberweis/Raunschenberger/Cox/Topinka field of political candidates during the 2008 primary.

It's like the national party's fetish for putting the name "Bush and "Dole" in every presidential ticket. It worked in the past occasionally, that no guarantee it will work this time. After about the third time, people get major fatigue.

Brady has been successful in both the public and private section in Bloomington-Normal, but he is NEW to STATEWIDE voters and represents a fresh face and new beginning for the Illinois GOP. The party will never get anywhere running the SAME people over and over again when they've already been REJECTED by the electorate.

It's time to clean house.

You've got to be kidding. Brady won't break 5%. Brady is the Ross Perot of this election. A vote for Brady is a vote for Topinka

>> My biggest fear is that it won't just be the GOP! With Blago's opponent tanking, my guess is that Daley will have his precinct captains in the city flip 30 to 40 voters per precinct over to GOP ballots with instructions to vote for Topinka. That would make the guber race a WIN-WIN for Daley either way ... perhaps an even bigger win for Daley if Judas beats Blago. <<

I fear you're right. Daley's people covertly worked to get Lyin' Ryan votes in the city too. I'm pretty sure the Chicago Dem machine actually perfers Judas Topinka over "useful idiot" HotRod. She'd be able to enact the leftist agenda more skillfully than the inept stooge currently in office.

Another thing to watch out for is they are trying to sell Judy as a "fiscal conservative" (they always say "fiscal conservative" when someone favors banning guns, supports abortion in every circumstance, legalizing gay marriage, et. al.), we need to debunk this as well. I have to give Gidwitz credit for circulating a flyer debunking this lie. It notes:

-- As a state Senator, Judy Baar Topinka LEAD the fight to raise the state sales tax from 1% to 6.25% -- a tax increase of $753 million oa year on Illinois working families (Source: 1993 Illinois State Senate records, SB 1040 transcripts)

-- Since 1995, Topinka has DOUBLED the spending in her own treasurer's office budget. (Source: Illinois State Budget records, FY 1995-2006)

-- As state treasurer, Topinka has happily signed off on more than than $5.6 billion in debt to pay for additional state spending (Source: Commission on Government Accountablity onded Indebtedness Report 11/05)
Billyboy's Note: Let's remember she started her tenure a decade ago with Illinois enjoying a state SURPLUS during the Edgar years, then watched Lyin' Ryan' "borrow-and-spend" this state into obviviion and our "fiscal watchdog" gleefully SUPPORTED him every step of the way.

The Topinka people are going to whine that we're all intolerant "purists" and right-wing idelogues no matter what, so I really think conservatives in Illinois need to get together and make it clear that we don't "have" to have a candidate who agrees with us 100%, but rather we will vote for ANYONE BUT TOPINKA (even Gidwitz) in the general. The ICRC should pass a resolution to that effect and further make it clear that we will NOT support Topinka in the general elction under ANY circumstances.

If the RINO-Chicago Dem combine figures they could lose due to the GOP "base" staying home (unlike in 1998 when they duped half of the state's conservatives into voting for Ryan), they might not be so enthuestic for her anymore.

Time for a little quiz.

FACT:
H. Ross Perot was an egomanic zillionaire buisnessman who had never been elected to ANYTHING and lost twice but kept insisting conservatives support him over all elected officials.

QUESTION:
Which of the following GOP candidates for Governor fits the profile of a zillionaire businessman who has lost twice, never been elected to anything, and insists all conservatives support him over elected officials:

A. Judy Baar Topinka
B. Rod Gidwitz
C. Bill Brady
D. Jim Oberweis

Match the "winner" to fit such a profile and you're located the ROSS PEROT of ILLINOIS 2006!

Yeah, Brady needs to "step aside" for a THREE TIME LOSER who has NEVER been elected to ANY office in his life, right? YOU'RE got to be kidding.

Listen, I happen to like Brady personally and think he's got a bright future in Illinois politics (assuming he doesn't end up being the spoiler in this race…he does that, he’s toast); however, the numbers just aren't there for him, and he's stone broke and quickly losing momentum (not that he ever had ANY to begin with…Brady remains in the LOW single digits and is losing ground). Brady should bow out and endorse Oberweis, and then in four to eight years, Brady's the fair haired boy and heir apparent for Guv (or when he decides to run against Durbin). Phyllis Schlafly and dozens of other pro-family leaders have asked Brady to withdraw, and have as much as told him that if he is responsible for a Topinka victory; they will actively campaign against him in any future endeavor. You're right...maybe Brady isn't the Ross Perot of this election...he's the Ralph Nader (sent Bush over in 2000). I know, as a Brady supporter, it might be a bitter pill to swallow to cast a vote for Oberweis, but it is absolutely, positively, unequivocally the only way to keep Topinka out and insure that a Conservative gets in.

Since you think that Brady is losing momentum, please check his website, www.bradyforgovernor2006.com. It includes a long list of elected officials and county parties who have endorsed him. The list increases each week.

When Oberweis was the speaker at an RALC meeting, in Nov., he said that Brady should drop out because Brady was taking votes from him. I think that Oberweis is taking votes from Brady.

Brady's site was changed. The one that I mentioned was the first campaign site. Now, it's www.citizensforbillbrady.com.

Agreed. The March 21 Election day has ALREADY STARTED (early voting). There is no time to argue who is taking from whom. It is split.

Based on BB's quote. Let's agree to ALL SUPPORT the non-Judy leader in the polls next Sunday, March 5. I'll support Brady if he leads. Phil and BillyBoy support Obie if he leads. And we all support Gidwitz if he leads (fat chance).

New polls will be released in the Sunday papers. Rasmussen is constantly polling. There are private polls. I'll bet the margin of a lead will vary between the polls. But I'll bet the leaders will be the same in every poll. (I buy a round at the next Freeper meeting if I'm wrong.)

There is no time left for us to split.

AMEN! The Judas must be stopped and I don't think Btady's or Gidget's numbers are going to come anywhere near Obie's.
