Mo. Court Upholds 24-Hour Abortion Wait

The Missouri Supreme Court has upheld the state's 24-hour waiting period for abortions, a decision that turns the focus of the legal battle to federal court.

The unanimous ruling Tuesday by Missouri's highest court focused on whether the 2003 law ran contrary to the state constitution. The judges rejected arguments that it was overly vague and deprived people of liberty and privacy rights.

"It's a victory for the women of Missouri who find themselves in a crisis pregnancy but need the information and time to consider what's best for them," said Patty Skain, executive director of Missouri Right to Life.

Although considered a victory for anti-abortion groups, the ruling may not be the end of the matter. That's because Planned Parenthood affiliates, which filed the state case, also have challenged the law in federal court.

Last year, a federal judge allowed the 24-hour wait to take effect but issued a preliminary injunction against the law's language describing what physicians must discuss with patients. That injunction is to expire 10 days after the state Supreme Court decision is made final.

Planned Parenthood officials plan to decide soon whether to continue pursuing the federal case, said Peter Brownlie, president of Planned Parenthood for Kansas and Mid-Missouri.

They should just change their name to Planned Abortions. Why do they lie about who they are?
The last thing they want is parenthood! The big money is found in dead infants.

Let's see ---

The baby killers say one needs a 7 day wait to buy a gun, but DO NOT need a 1 day wait to kill a baby --- they want to do that right now!

This is good news.

Any time Planned Parenthood loses an abortion case, we get a little bit more civilized.

They also say we need a 20 year wait to kill a murderer-rapist but that person must not feel any pain of any sort, real or imaginary.

This is the most reasonable restriction I ever read about, how can any sane individual be against this?

Since Planned Parenthood receives $268 million in Federal tax dollars as well as state and local tax dollars, I guess it is safe to say that the appeal to Federal Judges will be your tax dollars at work - Federal, State, and Local...

Careful now (about talking about Planned Abortionhood).

After all, they are bankrolling the 2008 Hillary run with Federal Tax dollars as well as State and Local tax dollars.

About 40 Democrats bow to their god Planned Parenthood, and will filibuster the US Senate to support their god, especially Title X funding...

The good news just keeps rolling in. Praise God!!!Indeed, SCOTUS rules parental notification OK, the SD Congress passes a ban on almost all abortions, SCOTUS rules clinic protests OK, and now this. I often think this battle is hopeless, but developments like this make me actually think murder may become illegal in the US again. On the other hand, the news that the president supports abortion in certain cases was very disheartening.

What is lying to people who brutally and systematically butcher innocent human beings?

Cordially,

You had best stop making sense.

You will get noticed by those people standing in line to jump off the cliff of ban everything, everywhere, at all times, and under any circumstances.

Why was this even challenged? In 1992, with liberal Reagan appointee Anthony M. Kennedy casting the tie-breaking vote in favor of abortion, the high court still ruled that a 24-hour waiting period in PA was constitutional.

Did you see that a poll recently showed that 60 percent of the American people support Roe v. Wade, even if they don't understand Roe?

Planned Parenthood officials are evil...perpetrators of murder!! Alas for you, Planned Parenthood, your day is on the horizon when you will suffer for your atrocities.

When Jesus said, "Suffer the little children to come unto me" He didn't mean that you should murder them!
