I did hear where they said that people with guns in the street would be arrested. But I have not heard anything since then.

Neither have we. (Except for that mortar they chunked at us around noon on Friday.) And that's a good thing. It's been calmer the last couple of days.

From what I hear, people are leaving their guns at home. They want the Mahdi clampdown to take its course.

The only thing the WaPo wants to report on is the next funeral in Arlington so they can publish the pictures and devote a whole page to how terrible it is.

This is a great article. I remember the headlines after the mosque bombing almost salivating at the prospect of the civil war in Iraq. What was amazing was the mundane levels of violence after the mosque attacks which were nothing near the worst Iraq has seen. I think it is beyond irresponsible the way many in the media have been not just trying to report on a possible civil war but to indeed foment it, something that will only get more of our soldiers and Iraqis killed by Al Qaeda and others that take such headlines as indicators that they are making progress and emboldens them.

"And no hostility toward our troops. Iraqis went out of their way to tell us we were welcome"

Amazing when thugs from other countries start killing your people how GLAD everyone suddenly is to see the US Military show up.

Thanks, Mo! Just sent this to all my kids........including the one who spent the greater part of 15 months in Baghdad.

The MSM have everything riding on complete failure in Iraq. They are sinking lower and lower in their efforts to make it so, by outright lies.

GOOD read! (And I LOVE the sarcasm, dude!)

The NYT wants a Civil War.

The MSM can burn in hell, as far as I'm concerned.

And American newspapers are written for a second-grade reading level.

I'M trying. I've been trying all week. The other day, I drove another 30 miles or so on the streets and alleys of Baghdad. I'm looking for the civil war that The New York Times declared. And I just can't find it.

Maybe actually being on the ground in Iraq prevents me from seeing it. Perhaps the view's clearer from Manhattan. It could be that my background as an intelligence officer didn't give me the right skills.

And riding around with the U.S. Army, looking at things first-hand, is certainly a technique to which The New York Times wouldn't stoop in such an hour of crisis.

Says it all.

The last I heard it was sixth grade, but the media does operate under tie conviction that the public is ignorant, and has a short attention span. Unfortunately, this week they were proven correct.
