Clinton Says New York, but Money Hints at '08
New York Times ^ | 03/08/2006 | Raymond Hernandez

WASHINGTON, March 7 — Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is locking up some of the Democratic Party's top fund-raisers, in a move that party officials and strategists say seems intended to complicate the efforts of any potential rivals in the 2008 presidential contest.

While Mrs. Clinton and her advisers insist that her only focus is winning re-election to a second term in the United States Senate in November, Democrats say that her finance team has undertaken a vigorous push to round up leading fund-raisers around the country, an effort that was underscored by a recent dinner in Washington at which former President Bill Clinton made an appearance and laid out his vision to the party's big money people.

The effort comes as Mrs. Clinton has embarked on a nationwide fund-raising spree herself, enabling her to collect cash while appearing before audiences outside New York. Democrats say her goal is to raise at least $40 million for her Senate race, money that could be used for a national run after this year's Senate re-election bid, for which she faces minor opposition.

My guess is that she will not run. The Clinton's live by the polls and they ain't good. The Hildebeast does not like to loose.

Oh she'll run alright. Her ego won't allow her not to.

There are not many of us, but I agree with you she will not run, or more likely drop out after a couple of primary debates when it becomes clear that the emperor has no clothes; that she is simply too unlikeable, too incompetent a debater, and does not have good enough political instincts to win the presidency. As far as I am concerned, the longer it takes her to drop out, the better. I am encouraged by stories like this.

Every once in a rare while: chronic insomnia can actually prove moderately useful. :)

I had a vision last night, and it's NOT '08 she's gunning for, it's 2012!

Ping me as soon as she's confirmed for '08. Nevermind, I'll donate $20. to FR over and above my normal if I'm mistaken, and I know I'll hear about it within hours, seeing as I'm an addict here.

What's really going on: Hill's trying to allay party fears about her electability by having Bill talk about HIS vision. (They'd be 'co-presidents'.) Hold your nose and back me. Bill will make all the important decisions. Springtime for Hitler? This is Springtime for Bill C.

It's Miriam "Ma" Ferguson, part 2. "Ma" Ferguson was governor of Texas in the 1920s. She ran as a stand-in for her popular husband when he was impeached and couldn't get his name on the ballot.

She can't afford to lose a re-election bid. The only question now is how aid and comfort the NY GOP is going to give her.

Problem is she is so dishonest you can never believe her and so greedy, that amassing money may not mean anything other than she is behaving normally.

You are wrong! It is her ego that will keep her from running, if the polls are not high enough. These people are poll driven.

"My guess is that she will not run. The Clinton's live by the polls and they ain't good. The Hildebeast does not like to loose."

Somehow I also get that feeling. Figure she nets 40+ million, uses minimal funding for her campaign and bags a cool 20-25 mil that she gets to keep.

On the other hand, I would not be suprised if she doesn't run, but gets recruited at the convention after the RATS cannot figure out if they are better with running dog food or cat food as the candidate.

I may well be wrong mariabush.

But I honestly do think she'll run, thanks to her posse of yes men reminding her of how (ahem) "brilliant" and "historical" a figure she is as we get ever closer to all would-be candidates having to announce.

Not to mention her probably also believing that she's got a "secret weapon" in the person of her used car salesman husband that she thinks will help her win it all via his rewriting their so-called "legacy" throughout her campaign.

Its all about the data base. Like a sucked orange the Deniak was fleeced of his substantial contributor data base. The Clintoons will first gag him and despise the sucked sucker.

Contributors from the Toon years,Senate campaign, all the data from NDP, combined with the stolen FBI files, the Hildabeast will dry up the money by launching a massive national shakedown. Soros is funding this project.

I can just hear the squeals from the Dims when she starts her scorched earth project.
