Threat Matrix: Daily Terror Threat - Thread Thirty-Five

Posted on 03/09/2006 10:08:04 PM PST by nwctwx

:::FreeRepublic's Threat Matrix:::
Unrest in Pakistan Setback for Terror War
(Full Story)

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan -- A week of unprecedented urban fighting in the wild tribal belt of North Waziristan has left scores dead and forced thousands to flee their homes, raising the stakes in Pakistan's war on Islamic militancy along the Afghan border.

A jumbled alliance of foreign militants, local tribesmen and Islamic students eager for jihad have stepped up resistance in a region where the army already claims to have wiped out al-Qaida as a viable fighting force.

The unrest, brewing for months, is a setback to the U.S.-led war on terror. Further hampering that effort are deteriorating relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan over Afghan claims that Taliban leader Mullah Omar is hiding in Pakistan and suicide bombers are training here.

*** A Victory!

Tell me phone calls do not matter!

WASHINGTON - The Senate sidetracked sweeping immigration legislation Friday amid partisan recriminations, leaving in doubt prospects for passage of a measure that offered the hope of citizenship to millions of men, women and children living in the United States illegally.

The bill gained only 38 votes on a key procedural test, far short of the 60 needed to advance.

The vote marked a turnabout from Thursday, when the Senate's two leaders had both hailed a last-minute compromise as a breakthrough in the campaign to enact the most far-reaching changes in immigration law in two decades.

But Republicans soon accused Democrats of trying to squelch their amendments, while Democrats accused the GOP of trying to kill their own bill by filibuster.

Senate Vote Shelves Immigration Bill

______________________________________________________

The American Public has Beat the Special Interest Lobbies by Reaching Out to Their Senators!

But, the Fight for Immigration Enforcement Isn't Over

Today, the Senate yet again failed to gather enough votes to pass the latest amnesty proposal brought to the Senate floor. On Wednesday, the Senate took a vote to end debate on the Specter/Kennedy amnesty bill approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee. That bill proposed giving amnesty to the 12 million illegal aliens present in the United States while at the same time opening the door for a million more guest workers to come to the country. FAIR members over the past two weeks voiced their opposition to the Specter/Kennedy bill, and the bill was set aside after a procedural vote to end debate failed. With the Senate scheduled to recess at the end of this week, amnesty-supporters in the Senate had to scramble to find another alternative.

Senators spent much of this week meeting behind closed doors to reach a "compromise." In the rush to reach agreement and return home for the recess, Senators Hagel and Martinez magically appeared with a "compromise" that they believed would garner the support needed to pass the chamber. Unsurprisingly, once the "compromise" was reviewed, it was apparent the bill was virtually the same as the Specter/Kennedy amnesty bill. The only notable differences were the creation of a bifurcated amnesty path and the tremendous increase in employment-based visas.

FAIR reached out to its members yesterday to phone the Senate. And you responded by calling your Senators to tell them the American people cannot be fooled. Your calls produced a major victory! The cloture vote on the Hagel/Martinez "compromise" was defeated 38-60! Amnesty does not have enough support in the Senate to pass! Not to be forgotten, the cloture vote on Senator Frist's bill also was defeated, 36-62. As you know, the Frist bill had border security provisions, but also included a doubling of legal immigration per year. We asked you to call in to voice your opposition to this bill-true enforcement first! Yet again, the tireless members of FAIR and others who support true immigration reform made your voices heard! Congratulations to all of you! We thank you for your dedication and support.

We have won this battle, friends, but the war is not over. Chairman Specter has said that when they return from recess, he intends to take up the issue of immigration again. Because Congress is in recess over the next two weeks (April 10-21) please call or stop by your Senators' district offices.

See the list of offices at http://www.nomoreamnesty.com/offices.html This will reinforce where the American public stands. Now is not the time to rest! Demonstrations and rallies by the open borders lobby are planned for April 10. Don't let these demonstrations drown out your opinion. Let your Senators know your priorities are border security and enforcement first!

Congratulations!

Tancredo to Appear on CBS’ Face the Nation, Sunday

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO) is scheduled to appear on CBS’ “Face the Nation” television program to discuss immigration issues this Sunday.

Lou Dobbs Tonight
Live from Washington, DC
Friday, April 7, 2006

The devil is indeed in the details. Less than a day after Republican and Democratic Senators took turns in front of television cameras congratulating themselves and their esteemed colleagues for reaching a compromise on illegal immigration reform, their bill hit a major roadblock and has stalled. Senate Republicans revolted when Democrats attempted to suppress amendments on the legislation. The Senate will not vote on illegal immigration reform until after the Easter recess, if ever.

Senator John Cornyn of Texas joins Lou to discuss why the compromise agreement failed and what that failure means for the prospect of passing major legislative reform on border security and illegal immigration.

And what is the cost of immigration reform? Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama is calling for a Congressional Budget Office review of the cost of implementing amnesty programs. Some have estimated that cost to be as high as $40 billion. We’ll have that report.

Throughout the country, millions of protesters are gearing up for anti-Sensenbrenner legislation marches. Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner of Wisconsin talks to Lou tonight.

And Lou will be talking with our political roundtable – CNN senior political analyst Bill Schneider, former White House political director Ed Rollins, WOL radio talk show host Joe Madison, and New York Daily News Michael Goodwin – for a wrap-up of the week’s top stories.

Coyote Senators with Coyote McCain Leading an Illegal Invasion Across the US Border

50 Illegal aliens WILL JUMP America’s borders while you read this note

The going rate to pay and hire a coyote (a human trafficker) in Mexico to get you across the US border illegally is $2000. The McKennedy – Senate legislative compromise would reward with guaranteed US citizenship those who illegally live in the US for 5 or more years, if they pay a fine of—you guessed it—$2000.

Coyote Senators like Coyote McCain, now on both sides of the issues by voting against his own bill,Coyote Kennedy and Coyote Specter are leading the pack to promote the illegal invasion across the US border, and enable the oligarchic government of Mexico with its shameful exploitation of its poorest citizens. Coyote McCain and his pack are listening to the foreign government lobbyists and the extortion threats of third-world anarchists, instead of respecting the expressed will of 90% of American citizens to secure our borders.

The Coyote Senators have already made the invasion crisis worse, as waves of new indigents wash across our frontier in anticipation of amnesty!

Select to FAX THE ENTIRE SENATE NOW!

These Coyote Senators took an oath to uphold the US Constitution and secure and protect the US from foreign invasion.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WHAT DO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WANT?
- from a Fox News opinion Poll
Almost all Americans (90 percent) say illegal immigration is "very" serious (60 percent) or "somewhat" serious (30 percent) essentially unchanged from a year ago this time.
The top worry- illegal immigrants will strain the government . (87 percentAlmost all Americans) say they are concerned illegal aliens will overburden government services.
Majorities favor deporting as many illegal aliens as possible (57 percent) and using the U.S. military to stop entry at the borders (55 percent).
Large majorities favor increasing the number of border patrol agents (80 percent) and imposing fines and criminal charges against employers who hire illegal aliens (73 percent).
People are concerned illegal aliens will increase terrorism (34 percent very concerned), take away wanted jobs (37 percent) and increase crime (39 percent very concerned).
By eight-to-one, Americans think it is unfair to grant rights to illegal immigrants while thousands of people wait each year to come to the United States legally. Fully 86 percent of Republicans think it is unfair, as do 77 percent of Democrats.
Most Americans (78 percent) would like to see a law making English the country's official language, including large majorities of Republicans (89 percent), independents (79 percent) and Democrats (68 percent). Similar numbers (77 percent) think speaking English should be a requirement of those applying to become U.S. citizens.
WHAT THE SENATE WANTS TO DO!
Simply Put NOTHING!!! The Coyotes just want you to go away Coyote Democrats and Coyote RINO’s are blocking everything from being debated in public and voted on by the entire Senate.
It is CRITICAL that you ACT TODAY! Over 400,000 faxes have already FLOODED the offices of EVERY SINGLE US Senator, demanding that they do Border Security first and REJECT any "guest worker" amnesty bill,
Select to FAX THE ENTIRE SENATE NOW!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The most likely strategy was seen earlier in the week. On Thursday Coyote Frist said in interviews, there was a compromise in the Senate that would place illegal immigrants in three categories:

Those illegally in the country at least five years would be put on a path toward guaranteed citizenship… roughly 60% of the 11 million plus illegal aliens already here. Those illegally in the country for two to five years would report to an American port of entry, and be classified as temporary workers for six years while applying for citizenship.

Only one million or so, illegally in the country for less than two years, would be required to leave.

This nonsense sell-out of American sovereignty is merely an amnesty smokescreen, devised to perpetuate the status quo of de facto colonization of America by foreign mobs. More do nothing from the do nothing Coyote Senate.

One unanswered question: How do can you determine how long someone has been illegallyin the country? Did we miss the part where the Coyotes stopped at federal registration stations in the deserts of the southwestern United States and signed in all the “undocumented workers” they are illegally smuggling into our country? Or perhaps illegal aliens will be able to use a cash receipt for a bus or plane ride to NY as proof to guarantee they meet these arduous, loyalty-demanding paths to US citizenship.

Does the “compromise” bill include even a warning that falsifying documents is a federal offense with a fine? Once again, this legislative sell-out merely perpetuates the status quo, while pretending to address the crisis. It has no meaningful border security, and offers huge additional incentives to foreign nationals to cross our border illegally and acquire false identification. The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps will remain on watch securing the border until serious and effective action is taken by the US government to provide REAL, enforceable border security.

25 New illegal aliens JUST CROSSED our border as you are reading .

The voting season has already started and 2006 and 2008 look like they’ll have a heavy Coyote season.

Let’s take a look at the harm to America these Senate Coyotes have already done with just their talk about amnesty—and what the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps volunteers are seeing every day, every night, 24/7 on the US-Mexico border.

There is already a sharp rise in the number of illegal crossings at the borders by indigents seeking amnesty. Illegal aliens recently apprehended by the Border Patrol are talking about how amnesty is coming, about the increase in illegal traffic and Coyote fees, and admitting that they will keep trying to cross even after they are returned to Mexico—because now they REALLY will be able to stay in America.

We need your help! We need you to come to the border! We must hold the line!

Important and Comforting: READ!

Although Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist proclaimed “a huge breakthrough” Thursday in the Senate’s tortuous struggle to pass an immigration reform bill, the measure is a long way from being sent to the president's desk for his signature.

The Senate bill would create a path for illegal immigrants to become legal residents of the United States. It would mandate that illegal immigrants who have been in the United States for more than five years pay a $2,000 fine, demonstrate knowledge of the English language, pass a criminal background check and meet other requirements.

Herein lies our victory and our Fight!

But even if the bill is passed by the Senate, {{{Sensenbrenner’s opposition could kill it when it gets to the House-Senate conference. }}}

Let us make sure it does! Do NOT ever let up day to day in calls/faxes!

Important Read!

It’s not about wanting people to suffer. It’s not about ethnicity, prejudice or a lack of compassion.

When discussing the dispute over whether or not to strengthen the border between Mexico and California, one must abandon fears of being labeled as racist or callous and acknowledge that this bill is simply addressing an issue of fairness.

To begin with, illegal immigrants do not pay income tax; American citizens do. Though California is vastly richer than Mexico, the loss of taxes from thousands of immigrants is taking its toll. As our middle class shrinks, our deficit grows and our poor get poorer, it is not fair that our impoverished should inadvertently support others in a similar situation.

Illegal immigrants are unable to obtain health insurance, causing an overcrowding in emergency rooms that becomes yet another tax burden on the general public. Overcrowding can become a serious problem in local public schools, as it raises the student/teacher ratio. Possible language barriers may slow down the progress of a class as a teacher tries to keep students on the same page.

The Virginia legislature is crafting a bill that applies specifically to machetes, as absurd as that sounds. The reason is that machetes are a favourite weapon of the Mara Salvatrucha, or MS- 13, which is among the most infamous and dangerous street gangs in the United States.

Founded in Los Angeles in the 1980s by El Salvadorans, MS-13 has spread across the US like the tentacles of an octopus, and is blamed for carrying out such heinous crimes that laws are being tailored to control the organization.

The violence includes the decapitations of victims, especially rival gang members, and the chopping off of hands.

"'Virtual university of terror' housed on Internet, group says"
Globe and Mail ^ | April 6, 2006 | GREGORY BONNELL

Posted on 04/08/2006 12:23:57 AM PDT by FairOpinion

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Senior federal cabinet ministers will be handed a "snapshot" today of how terrorists have dramatically increased their Internet presence during the past year to create a "virtual university of terrorism."

The more than 6,000 terror- and hate-related websites catalogued by the U.S.-based Simon Wiesenthal Center in its annual report represent a 20-per-cent increase over last year, Rabbi Abraham Cooper said.

"I think there's been a line crossed insofar as the Internet really emerging as a virtual university of terrorism," said Mr. Cooper, associate dean of the centre. "Giving the political leadership, a snapshot of what's going on will help to formulate some of the discussions and bring them up to speed."

Mr. Cooper plans to meet separately with Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay, Justice Minister Vic Toews and Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day in Ottawa to press his case.

"The Internet today is probably the key component in the war against terrorism," Mr. Cooper said. "We've tried to put together a snapshot that I think will help [the ministers] . . . maybe make their interaction with [security] professionals in Ottawa, Washington, Paris and London better informed."

The report documents how terrorists are increasingly using the Internet not only to recruit and train people but also to glorify bombings, sniper attacks and killings.

Manuals on how to build a so-called dirty bomb, make poisons and use global positioning devices are commonplace on the Web, the report states. It also illustrates how terrorist groups use multiple download sites to avoid detection.

A real-time suicide bomber's drive to an Iraqi hotel, and the subsequent explosion, are among the many troubling videos and images that will be presented to the ministers.

The goal, given that it's virtually impossible to eliminate terrorist activity from the Internet, is to make "sure the right agencies and the right people understand where we're at right now, what's going on, and making sure they do the best job that they can," Mr. Cooper said."

"Terror weapons (knives) taken off Coventry's streets (banning knives)"
Coventry ^ | April 7, 2006 | Ben Griffin

Posted on 04/08/2006 12:35:25 AM PDT by FairOpinion

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "THESE horrifying knives have been taken off the streets of Coventry in the last 10 days.

They are examples of the kinds of blades police and the Evening Telegraph are trying to banish from the city during the One Knife One Life campaign.

The campaign, which was launched in the city last week, aims to teach youngsters - and particularly teenage boys - the dangers of knives.

Police say young people carry knives to make themselves feel more secure, or because they know other people do.

They say they don't think about the potentially devastating consequences carrying a knife can have.

During the Evening Telegraph-backed campaign police are going into schools teaching youngsters that one stab wound can kill.

And they are encouraging people to bin a blade in an amnesty which runs until May.

They are also searching people they suspect to be carrying knives and seizing them.

Last week they took a knife from a teenager when they searched him in Brightmere Road, Radford.

The blade, hidden inside a working cigarette lighter, flicks out at the push of a button.

The youngster who had the knife has been spoken to by police but has not been charged.

Another horrifying knife was found at a house police were searching in Fowler Road, Radford.

Officers had gone to the house using a search warrant for drugs and found the hunting knife."

Thanks! Awesome posts! If I may , following are our current immigration laws that need to be enforced with some amendments added, along with a strong tough border control policy that includes armed guards and an electrified fence.

142. Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of September 30, 1996 (110 Statutes-at-Large 3009)

Provisions:

Established measures to control U.S. borders, protect legal workers through worksite enforcement, and remove criminal and other deportable aliens:

Increased border personnel, equipment, and technology as well as enforcement personnel at land and air ports of entry;
Authorized improvements in barriers along the Southwest border;
Increased anti-smuggling authority and penalties for alien smuggling;
Increased penalties for illegal entry, passport and visa fraud, and failure to depart;
Increased INS investigators for worksite enforcement, alien smuggling, and visa overstayers;
Established three voluntary pilot programs to confirm the employment eligibility of workers and reduced the number and types of documents that may be presented to employers for identity and eligibility to work;
Broadly reformed exclusion and deportation procedures, including consolidation into a single removal process as well as the institution of expedited removal to speed deportation and alien exclusion through more stringent grounds of admissibility;
Increased detention space for criminal and other deportable aliens;
Instituted 3- and 10-year bars to admissibility for aliens seeking to reenter after having been unlawfully present in the United States;
Barred re-entry of individuals who renounced their U.S. citizenship in order to avoid U.S. tax obligations.

Placed added restrictions on benefits for aliens:

Provided for a pilot program on limiting issuance of driver's licenses to illegal aliens;
Declared aliens not lawfully present ineligible for Social Security benefits;
Established procedures for requiring proof of citizenship for Federal public benefits;
Established limitations on eligibility for preferential treatment of aliens not lawfully present on the basis of residence for higher education benefits;

"We have won this battle, friends, but the war is not over."

So true, we must keep fighting. Those willing to spend the time to do this must work extra hard because there are so many that don't pay attention and don't have a clue as to how urgent and dangerous this is.

Thanks to everyone here fighting this war in our country.

The illegal aliens will again be allowed to hold the streets of America hostage this weekend. We are under seige and it needs to be stopped!

Okay, it's getting personal now. I'm in Virginia, right on the water, and I just saw a car with California plates and three potential illegals looking for construction work. They were asking people on the street where the work was!

Somehow, word has gotten out that contractors in Virginia are hiring illegals, because this isn't the first I've heard of it.
