Washington, D.C. — Concerned Women for America (CWA) pleads with young women across the country to take caution and safety measures as they enter the spring break season. The American Medical Association released a study which says that 83 percent of college women admit that spring break involves increased consumption of alcohol, and 74 percent said the break is a time to indulge in sexual activity.
“The danger of spring break is that students have an attitude that ‘anything goes’,” said Dr. Janice Crouse, CWA’s Senior Fellow of the Beverly LaHaye Institute. “The idea that this vacation has no consequences is a frightening and naive mindset. Reckless conduct always has consequences and young people need realize their vulnerabilities and show responsibility.
“Spring break is a week away from reality for students across the nation, but it does not negate the fact that STDs are real consequences and that excessive alcohol leads to risky behavior.
“Tragic stories of girls who mysteriously ‘disappear’ or horrible things happening to unsuspecting victims should alarm us and be a warning to high school and college girls looking for a good time. Participating in wild behavior on spring break dramatically increases the risk of crime and undesirable outcomes. My prayers go out to young girls as they enjoy the carefree tradition of spring break. While they will be tempted to lay caution and responsibility aside, I challenge them to enjoy a delightful, ‘fun in the sun’ break from school, while still maintaining integrity. I hope they will make wise decisions, show discernment, and respect their bodies.”

I was going to say that but I wasn't sure it was true for me. Truth is, as a "straight arrow," that scene just wasn't you so why regret? Might regret not having taken a chance to travel places but to be immersed in the throngs and orgies that typify Spring Break? No thanks.
I know plenty of college students who've had wonderful times during spring break - great parties, great sex, no regrets - and I can safely say that since it all happened 40 years ago.
I sure don't remember spring break being that big of a deal back when I was in college. Of course, it was JC and I lived in a relatively small town, maybe that was the reason.
We did know how to party, though, and thankfully, nothing too bad ever happened, cuz we were young and dumb.
No, that's not the reason. For most students - everywhere and at all times - it isn't that big a deal. "Girls Gone Wild" is not representative of the college population.
Its just the way morals are today. The genie is out of the bottle. My neighbors are good people and I watched their daughter come of age. She is 20 now and sports a 'Rolling Stones Tongue' just above the crack on her behind. Pretty obvious when she wears her bikini. Go figure.
A hearty second from another lifelong happy 'straight arrow/stick-in-the-mud' ... no regrets here at all! On the contrary, I'm genuinely grateful that I managed to avoid that whole scene.
For me, the regrets would've been if I had gone down that path ... not because I avoided it. Nice to know there are others who feel the same :)

You're right, of course. I don't remember even hearing about such a thing as a spring break, though. It wasn't a concept I was familiar with until about the last few years or so, watching news on TV with college kids swarming the streets and bars and wreaking havoc.
That's really become commonplace, hasn't it? I heard an anesthesiologist quoted to the effect that if a gal has a tattoo in that area, she'd better hope she never needs an epidural. Something to do with more likelihood for infection, as well as the doctor not knowing the makeup of the ink.
Makes sense, and I'm kinda surprised you don't hear this more often.
Yes, BET is incredible. My cousin let her daughter watch that cr@p all afternoon when the daughter came home from school. The kid (age 16) put down her books and sat and watched it for hours. Her mother never said a thing.
It was horrible. Made all black women look like hoes.
Poor kids....let's hope no one dies this year. Some one always does, you see.
Unfortuantely most girls don't realize that throwing away their sexuality on tomcats means they come to marriage (if they ever marry) a tattered used slut. I am not saying that every woman who marries and is not a virgin is a slut. I am saying that the current generation of girls are encouraged to act and dress like sluts. Having sex with people you barely know and have no committed relationship with is the very definition of slut.
And such behavior leads to great suffering, even if it's hidden beneath bravado and "cool".
There are very good reasons why every religion in the world (monotheist) values chastity before marriage and fidelity within marriage. Husbands and wives can form a loving, lifelong bond much better when each of them is the "first". Sex without lifelong commitment is animal life.
Like so many things in the Bible, Hate the sin but Love the sinner, is full of wisdom but hard to follow. Hating the sinner gets us off track as to what the true nature of the gospel is all about, LOVE, and gets us into egotism instead of spiritual awareness.
So is Satan. You had better take a closer look. Nothing wrong with beer and girls as long as you don't lose your perspective and the bigger picture. Taking advantage of someone is never a good thing to do. Other than that, ......

It sounds like what you mention is an urban legend for the most part.
I'm not a huge fan of (most) tattoos on women -- any woman (or guy) who wants to look better would be better off getting some exercise instead of whatever else they do to look attractive.
At this point in time ... college has become just a way to put off having to grow up, take responsibility, get a job ... it certainly does not seem to improve minds ... or even earn a work permit ...
I never thought I would live long enough to say this ... but "college" [or what it has become] ... is a total waste of time and money ... with little ultimate benefit to anyone who is supposed to benefit.
And, then the boomerang kids move back home for Mom to cook and do laundry for them.

Same here. I used the spring break period to work full-time at my internship, because I needed the extra money. Not that I regret it, once I graduated from college and became gainfully employed, I've taken more than my share of Caribbean vacations and have enjoyed them greatly.
Isn't it odd how on one hand, we hear continually of all these college kids graduating with mounds of debt from the high cost of their educations and student loans, yet "Spring Break" has become almost a "right" that not only college kids, but even high schoolers have come to expect?
You might be right--might have gone down there and hated it. But now I'll never know. Of course, I hated beer once too--now its my favorite drink. I only have about two a week though or I'll loose my girlish figure.
