despite the growing number of Democrats urging a withdrawal

These are people who want to be taken seriously on security matters. Its not happening for them.

Its a shame that in our two-party system we aren't blessed with two parties who both value national security. In a better world than this one, the presidential debates would be about which party would more aggressively defend the country, which one would more aggressively hunt down our enemies, which party would more aggressively police our borders.

Instead we have one party prepared to wage war (without sealing the borders) and the other who won't do either.

If you care about national security, its a one-party system. There is only one choice. If you expect national security to include border security, the field of choices is a little thinner.

Not that everyone doesn't already know this, but RATS run the AP, and RATS did the bogus polling. There's no way that only 30% approve of the President's handling of Iraq. Leading questions, and overpolling Dems and Independents. The polls are to make news, not to reflect reality.

But to the article, GOOD for Rove for articulating the Commander in Chief's position............and GOOD for him for thanking Ohioans...............because we SAVED the WORLD in 2004! :)

Despite?

That's the word I'd use if the Democrats were the majority.

It's my believe that the right is at a disadvantage while our troops are away fighting a war, as I also believe that the majority of full time personnel in the military are of the right persuasion, unlike those of the left who'd rather stay home and milk the welfare system dry, then have the gall to 'b***h' that they're not being given enough handouts.

The Bush administration will not pull American troops out of Iraq until victory is won, despite the growing number of Democrats urging a withdrawal, presidential adviser Karl Rove said Saturday.

Abandoning Iraq now would signal to U.S. allies that America can't be trusted, Rove said.

"Tyrants in the Middle East would laugh at our failed resolve," he said. "To retreat before victory would be a reckless act."

Look at the way the MSM jumps to the poll numbers after mentioning the civil war that never was. They're just playing on the see-saw, when one argument drops the other goes up and they will play this game until the elections.

"Nearly four out of five Americans, including 70 percent of Republicans, believe civil war will break out in Iraq, the poll showed."

Media keeps spouting that like its gospel, but people only thought that because the media insisted it was the case, and ... it never happened.

Didnt happen.
Wont happen.

Iraq is one country that will stabilize and become a successful democratic nation.

MSM: Get over it.

It would also be the clearest possible signal to America's enemies that America could be attacked with impunity and resisted effectively by guerilla warfare. Thereafter, 9/11 would look like a pillow-fight compared to what would follow.

To paraphrase Winston L S Churchill, America is "fighting to save the whole world from (Muslim) tyrrany." The pillow-fighters on the Left should stand safely to one side and watch politely while the job gets done.

Good on President Bush. He is a fine Wartime President with many admirers DownUnder. In his own quirky way, he will go down in History alongside the likes of Churchill and Wellington and Washington and Lincoln and Roosevelt: great wartime leaders tend to like to hang out together.
