Couldn't see that coming, with the obvious 787 vs flying cattle car outcome.

Well, since Boeing is probably going to lose a huge number of 777 and 787 orders thanks to some idiots in Congress, Airbus might just manage to stay ahead.

But how is this possibale. Did not old Chiraci go out last year and gush endlessly how Airbus's new cattle car was going to be the death of Boeing?

But isn't Dubai going to cancel its Boeing orders?

Yea, they were going to "review" it. But guess what, the economics are still there. If they want to go and buy the cattle car that costs more to operate and fly it half empty all the time, well, so be it. My bet is they buy the planes anyway. And my bet is some of our congrescritters are trying hard to make it up to Dubai. I'm betting they still buy the 787.

Must be those Renault engines Airbus is trying to use up.

They found out how to sell a lot of planes: make good ones.

Emirates is already the largest customer for the A380.
The battle is between the 777/787 and the Airbus A350.

Airbii (Plural for AIRBUS) don't run on Renault engines; they use Rolls-Royce, CFM, GE and Pratt & Whittney

As an old Boeing alum who helped design the 747, I'm a bit disappointed in the plastic-electric 787.
I wish the Lazy "B" good luck on it, but what with the outsourcing of the engineering design of subsystems to Russian design bureaus, I can't get real enthusiastic over it.
In spite of all the sonorous claims made for it, the airplane only exists on CAD files and simulations, so far. In the computer business we would call it "vaporware."
I'm willing to be proven wrong about it.

Mm-hmm....I see now....that must be the reason for the sloooow rate of climb for the Airbus A340-300.

That's a good demonstration of what computer control will do for you, courtesy of Airbus.
I have the video of that little escapade. I'm told that not everyone on board was killed, however.

We will see more fallout from that than just Airbus unfortunately.
