I Need A Conservative Television News Network
The Reality Check ^ | 03/16/2006 | Edward L. Daley

Posted on 03/16/2006 8:27:25 AM PST by sr4402

Every morning I log onto the worldwide web, not because I'm a computer geek, but because I want to understand what's going on in the world. I've long since turned my back on the print media for accurate and timely news reporting, and it's getting to the point where I can't even bring myself to watch a televised news broadcasts anymore, simply because tv networks can't seem to report on much of anything these days without insulting my intelligence with some sort of politically correct blather.

...

I need a television news network that doesn't slip misleading statements like "after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks... Muslims were often targeted for violence" (1) into its war-related news coverage, for no apparent reason other than to insinuate that Americans are prone to the same sort of religious-based, reactionary violence that the citizens of many Middle Eastern countries regularly engage in.

Say what you want, Fox Cable News is the better than anything else.

I used to love Fox News; but their sensationalism really turned me off. They would blather on about attractive missing women 24x7 if they could get away with it.

The 700 club has a news portion, you might like it.

I think I better revise my prayer. Lord give me a Reformed Conservative Network. One that doesn't go outside your parameters.

There is NOTHING on NPR that could possibly balance Daniel Schorr. However, point taken and I almost always listen to Morning Edition and Weekend Edition. I go through several portable radios doing it, but I still listen. (I need to find a foam covered radio that doesn't shatter when I throw it at the wall when I hear Daniel's tomes.)

The way to a conservative network starts with taking away one of the major's licenses. This would entail attending FCC license renewal hearings and demonstrating that the network is not serving the public interest.

The following is the mission statement of the organization Accuracy in Media: "Accuracy In Media is a nonprofit, grassroots citizens watchdog of the news media that critiques botched and bungled news stories and sets the record straight on important issues that have received slanted coverage."

Wouldn't you think an organization like this would be interested in coaching and sending a group of citizens to testify at an FCC hearing for the renewal of say, ABC's television license? Or does Accuracy in Media simply want to continue talking about the problem and not solve it? Reminds me of the Black "Leadership" in this country.

But to get to it you have to put up with Pat Robertson. *sigh*

I think the problem is, we don't want "news".

We want information.

I don't only want to hear what is a good story. I want a site that will give me all the information available on a topic. If they're covering Iraq, then tell me all the good and all the bad things that have happened over there.

"News" is people selling interesting stories. An industry that will always exist, cuz people like interesting stories.

But there is *also* room for an industry that delivers information to people. For the moment, that is only the internet. Maybe that will always be true, I don't know.

"I'd be happy with a network that just reported the truth; left, right or otherwise."

I'm with you!!

Sadly, that's what sells. And, don't forget, all news stations are businesses. The bottom line is the most important story.

Milwaukee sells a fairly rugged radio. I've had this one about a year, and it's still kicking. Amazing for my gorilla crew!

The networks (CBS, NBC, ABC) used to claim being unbiased, but they weren't. Bias is inherent with the writer. I would rather have someone identity their biases than be lied to about it.

Thus there should be an attempt at a truly liberal network, one that admits it's purpose is to make America into a socialistic state ruled by elite judges. Heck, I think it would go the way of Err America, but at least they could be honest about it.

The problem is, we don't have a "free and independent press." It is dominated by Liberals.

As a former journalism student, we learned how to report the facts...the Five Ws. However, the last W, "Why," has become the center of all reporting and is open to opinion. Facts don't mean anything. The "News" these days is nothing but a serious of editorials. There is also an extreme biaz in "selective" reporting.

As a Conservative, I'll take the facts, period. If the truth is reported, we win.

I don't want "conservative" news. I want the friggin' news, not cheerleading. If the conservatives screw up, I want to hear about it.

Conservative news is "the friggin" news. If Republican or conservative lawmakers are found to be corrupt, such a news station would have no problem reporting it.

All Things Considered.

Used to listen to that while I lived in the D.C. Area, then when It came on with it's little diddy, I would say with them, "All things Liberal Considered"... dah dah dah.

So true. I was once an intern at KOMO TV news in Seattle. One of my tasks was to listen to the activity on the police scanners and to be especially on the lookout for anything related to dead children or babies. No joke.

Facts don't mean anything.

Oh they mean a lot when they disprove a story. Like Dan Rather and the National Guard Documents or Jason Blair little affair with the New York Times.

It seems to me the lamestream media is doing a lot of ignoring the facts when it suits them and the liberal agenda.

Agreed. Pat should have retired years ago and not go out of his way to heap embarrassment upon the Christian Right.

Fox doesn't claim to be conservative, and it isn't. What it does differently is that it presents both sides -- all sides -- fairly, letting people from different persepctives speak for themselves. That makes it vastly more conservative than any other network. The rest are liberal propaganda machines.
