It's a good bet that that the empty box equates with the empty head carrying it :)

they were irritated that we called them "out" as being America haters.

Every Saturday, whenever there's a particularly great sequence of honkings for our Support Our Troops rally, I shout as loudly as I can, "U! S! A!" - just to remind the other side of the street which side we are on!

"Say there, Gone GF, Your Royal Spellness - can you spell H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-S-Y?"

Orwell's comments on pacifism:

"You are wrong also in thinking that I dislike wholehearted pacifism, though I do think it mistaken. What I object to is the circumspect kind of pacifism, which denounces one kind of violence while endorsing or avoiding mention of another."

"One question that every pacifist had a clear obligation to answer was: 'What about the Jews? Are you prepared to see them exterminated? If not, how do you propose to save them without resorting to war?' I must say that I have never heard, from any Western pacifist, an honest answer to this question, though I have heard plenty of evasions."

"STRENGTH THROUGH PEACE"

Our side has two great signs to specifically counter that one, though I haven't used them in a couple of years:

PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH

PEACE THROUGH SUPERIOR FIREPOWER

I'll have to take along the latter one when we counter their next "Pacifists Celebrating American Deaths" event. (Well, at least that was OUR suggested title for their rally when they marked the US death toll topping 2000. They chose some other title. Dunno why!)

Way to go CO FReepers!

Great quotes Jan. Wish I could have been there with you!

Hey, did you guys have any anarchists? We had 5 cross the street to have a "dialog" with us today. All in all not bad.

While chatting with the anarchists, this very issue was brought up. As they tried to tell us they love their country they simply do not believe in violence. Their side had a sign that read "Stop USA Terrorism" and we asked what they thought about al-Queda terrorism or the palestinians terrorism. The answer.....{crickets}

You reminded me of this message...
which should be repeated over and over...

It is unbelievable to me that these liberals have so little respect for this Country that they can proclaim President Bush as the ENEMY. Their words and actions make it VERY clear that they side with the terrorists!

They enjoy FREEDOM, but they aren't willing to support what needs to be done for us to KEEP our freedom.

"The trouble with our liberal friends are not that they're ignorant: It's just that they know so much that isn't so."
- Ronald Reagan

This picture?

She was with the anti American-millitary crowd! Yes, the sign makes NO sense at all. It's the appeasers, who have no concept of reality, that are putting our freedom at risk, and the time will be here soon when we WILL be fighting for our lives.

The newspaper article didn't print any of our signs. Funny, if it had been OUR event...their signs would have been printed!

Here is FReeper weldgophardline's sign...

Pacifists need to learn what this symbol represents...

I guess they would like the eagle to trade the arrows for some nice pretty flowers!

...the answer is blowing in the wind...

Why do some people think every word that ends in "s" gets an apostrophe?

Beat's me ;^)

(Gawd, it hurt to write that.)

Yes, that is the sign. What a kook! We are fighting for our lives now. Pathetic so few realize this.

Great sign by weldgophardline! We have chanted along those lines before....."War freed the slaves - War saved the Jews....."

Hey old buddy! Wish you could have been here, I sure had fun with my "LEFTIST WHINING EVENT" sign. It always seems so appropriate for these occasions. LOL!!

I'll sign on in the "Give the Sign a Break" column with this anecdote:

Back in the early 1980's there was a ceremony in Oakland, CA that made the Evening News that centered around adding a missing apostrophe to the "Childrens Hospital" sign on the outside of the building. I don't know when the place was built, but all of the signage had been in error until that day. It is now, properly, "Children's Hospital".

Oddly, perhaps, the hospital has always enjoyed a great reputation, missing punctuation notwithstanding, though the last twenty years HAVE seen a modest uptick in its approval rating among English teachers.

:)
