A church representative told the Sun Journal newspaper of Lewiston that church members will be carrying signs proclaiming "Thank God for dead soldiers" and "God hates fags." The church says soldiers are being struck down by God for defending a nation that tolerates homosexuality.

They sue people who harass them. They are minsters on paper only. In real life they are lawyers. Would the Bar association of the state they live in please repeal their licenses to practice law?

Fred Phelps is an idiot. Sooner or later, he's going to come across the wrong family and they're going to get their tails kicked. And it's not going to matter how many lawyers he has in his family.

Something smells funny about this story...Why is that? I know I read where the people involved in this funeral are pleading for help to protect the funeral from the likes of these creeps.

There are plenty of threads about these folks on FR. But I haven't seen any reports on where their money's coming from.

Groups like this are nuts and tend to get violent, which is the scary part.

The "church" is mostly a guy named Fred Phelps and his extended family. Several of them are lawyers and they have successfully sued a number of local government entities for civil rights (mostly 1st Amendment) violations. Thankfully, more states are passing laws restricting protests at funerals and the Patriot Guard motorcycle club is getting more and more support at standing between the bereaved family and the nutjobs.

The two teens are having a laugh at his expense.OIC, Joe. It's just recently that I heard about this group traveling around to the soldier's funerals and how upsetting they are to the family.
I know very little about them. I think they are totally disgusting.
