A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

When the earth is ravaged and the animals are dying, a new tribe of people shall come unto the earth from many colors, classes, creeds, and who by their actions and deeds shall make the earth green again. They will be known as the warriors of the Rainbow -- Old Native American Prophecy

Dawn Rainbow

A rainbow only bounces back to you the color in the light.
You get something quite special when the circumstance is right.
An early morning shower when the sun had hardly shown,
Caused the rainbow to get dressed in haste, in colors not its own.

Full golden was the rainbow, with neon at the edge,
As the sun was rising sleepily from beyond its earthen ledge.
I had never seen a rainbow that was monochrome like that,
But I remember vividly just where I was and where it sat.

There was no gold to find down on the ground beneath the bow,
For all of it was utilized in putting forth the glow.
No doubt you think I’m daft to even say I saw the sight,
For no one else has ever seen a rainbow in dawn’s light.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

The Rainbow Bridge

Reflections

- God sets a mirror down for us,
To bounce back sunny days,
He does it when the rain has passed,
To help us see the rays.

The reflection that we see in it,
Is not of hair and skin.
What we see is an image of,
The gloried state we’re in.

Light pink, and brighter orange,
And yellow brighter still.
I sit and look at glory’s frame,
Upon my favorite hill.

The others call it rainbow,
But I know what it is,
A magic mirror in the sky,
That lets us know we’re His.

The body that we occupy down here,
Is nothing like its start,
For one, the most attractive thing,
Has always been the heart.

God looks into our heart and then,
Just for His own amusement.
He gives a glimpse of what He sees,
And laughs at our confusement.

“That doesn’t look at all like me!”
I hear your protests start,
But when you look at other folks,
How can you see their heart?

If you admit there’s beauty,
Reflecting from some source,
Just think how glorious it will be,
When He’s revealed full force.

And you and I are with Him,
And joining in the glow.
Next time you see a rainbow,
I thought you ought to know.

Good morning Dolly from the southern shore of Lake Erie in Huron. There is a rumor that spring WILL come to us in "The Best Location in the Nation." I had hoped to meet some of you guys at Hywet Gardens or some other FR meet-up last year. Of course, there is always Cedar Point. (Hope Oliver is doing well).

No Need Is Too Trivial

Read:
Isaiah 49:13-18

As a father pities his children, so the Lord pities those who fear Him. —Psalm 103:13

Bible In One Year: Joshua 13-15; Luke 1:57-80

cover Several mothers of small children were sharing encouraging answers to prayer. One woman admitted that she felt selfish when she troubled God with her personal needs. "Compared with the huge global needs God faces," she explained, "my circumstances must seem trivial to Him."

Moments later, her little son pinched his fingers in a door and ran screaming to his mother. She didn't say, "How selfish of you to bother me with your throbbing fingers when I'm busy!" No, she showed him great compassion and tenderness.

As Psalm 103:13 reminds us, this is the response of love, both human and divine. In Isaiah 49, God said that even though a mother may forget to have compassion on her child, the Lord never forgets His children (v.15). God assured His people, "I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands" (v.16).

Such intimacy with God belongs to those who fear Him, and who rely on Him rather than on themselves. As that child with throbbing fingers ran freely to his mother, so may we run to God with our daily problems.

Our compassionate God doesn't neglect others to respond to your concerns. He has limitless time and love for each of His children. No need is too trivial for Him. —Joanie Yoder

No heart too small, no world too wide
To feel the Master's touch;
Dear Lord of all, we give Thee thanks
For Thou hast sent so much. —Michael

God bears the world's weight on His shoulder, and He holds His children in the palm of His hand.

Wonderful beautiful thread, Dolly! :)

Just a few days after 2004 election, one morning just after sunrise, I went out to the bird feeders to fill them. I had heard the rats were attempting to play games with the state Ohio, recount or something, UGH. That morning I saw the most brilliant beautiful rainbow. It gave me such peace. Sounds silly, it was a sign to me, not to worry. LOL

Is NicknamedBob published? He's fantastic. :)

Wow apart from the mountains that reminds me of the trees at Symara in Crete.

morning Springman! just missed you by minutes. I am not familiar with web TV. Why does it shut down? not enough RAM ?(does it even have RAM).

Before I got my new computer & DSL, there were three threads that I literally could not fully open: Finest; Pookie's toons & the Dose. It would all load VERY slowly(often an hour or more) & then many of the pix would be the dreaded red Xs. I went from a 256 memory to a gig of memory & processor from 1400 to 3400..and then got Cable at same time.

What a difference!

I learned NOT to complain as I realized the bigger/faster computers & cable/DSL were the ways of the Internet. It would be rather like me leaving at the same time for a function 50 miles away & all going in car & me on my bike & me complaining they were going too fast. You need to work with what you have & do the best you can.

I have heard of people having web TV ...just have never seen it & don't know how it operates. THANK YOU for stopping by this morning! (ah you work the afternoon shift..

Who doesn't love rainbows?! (:

I think the half cup folks.. they are often busy complaining about the rain that might have proceeded the rainbow that they miss the "blessing"... like a lot of other things in life. Negativity really does prevent you from capturing the moments of joy often.
