A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

When the earth is ravaged and the animals are dying, a new tribe of people shall come unto the earth from many colors, classes, creeds, and who by their actions and deeds shall make the earth green again. They will be known as the warriors of the Rainbow -- Old Native American Prophecy

Dawn Rainbow

A rainbow only bounces back to you the color in the light.
You get something quite special when the circumstance is right.
An early morning shower when the sun had hardly shown,
Caused the rainbow to get dressed in haste, in colors not its own.

Full golden was the rainbow, with neon at the edge,
As the sun was rising sleepily from beyond its earthen ledge.
I had never seen a rainbow that was monochrome like that,
But I remember vividly just where I was and where it sat.

There was no gold to find down on the ground beneath the bow,
For all of it was utilized in putting forth the glow.
No doubt you think I’m daft to even say I saw the sight,
For no one else has ever seen a rainbow in dawn’s light.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

The Rainbow Bridge

Reflections

- God sets a mirror down for us,
To bounce back sunny days,
He does it when the rain has passed,
To help us see the rays.

The reflection that we see in it,
Is not of hair and skin.
What we see is an image of,
The gloried state we’re in.

Light pink, and brighter orange,
And yellow brighter still.
I sit and look at glory’s frame,
Upon my favorite hill.

The others call it rainbow,
But I know what it is,
A magic mirror in the sky,
That lets us know we’re His.

The body that we occupy down here,
Is nothing like its start,
For one, the most attractive thing,
Has always been the heart.

God looks into our heart and then,
Just for His own amusement.
He gives a glimpse of what He sees,
And laughs at our confusement.

“That doesn’t look at all like me!”
I hear your protests start,
But when you look at other folks,
How can you see their heart?

If you admit there’s beauty,
Reflecting from some source,
Just think how glorious it will be,
When He’s revealed full force.

And you and I are with Him,
And joining in the glow.
Next time you see a rainbow,
I thought you ought to know.

you have your list of things to "dig"out & post too?

My someday list is a MILE long, it seems. Nice to see you. I only slept about 4 hours (your norm from what I gather). Might be a little dragging today for me in light of the heavy physical activities of past few days & upcoming today

Morning GeeBee.. I don't think Bob is published in the hands on type of book, although he is electronically for a few years in cyber world. It is fun to use his material because it is good & also because he is HERE with us & interacts.

I agree with you regarding the positiveness & the sense of well being with rainbows.. That no doubt was formed early for me with the Sunday school classes on Noah's ark/rainbow promise.

More or less a symbol/sign of HOPE

Loved your daughter's thread the other day. She did a nice job. We can recruit her for Finest in a few years?

Thinking of you re: tomorrow! hugs!!!!

good devotional today Rus.. good message. I recall as a "young" Christian reading that God feels/knows the pain of our physical, emotional, spiritual journey moreso than ANY mortal, yet we talk with mortals all the time but often not with God regarding them.

The idea of "talking " to God.. sharing, frustrations, joys, concerns, hopes.. NOT JUST GIVING HIM A SHOPPING LIST.. well to me that was revolutionary & very vital in changing my Christian walk to a deep & growing one.

Thank you as always for your cuppa!

A rainbow breaks over an American M1/A1 Abrams tank during exercises January 6, 2003 near the Iraqi border in Kuwait.

I know there is rain in Mideast (recall our troops in the swampy stuff early in war) but before the war & all the publicity of the area, I had always pictured most of the area very dry/desert w/o much rain &/or rainbows... funny the images we have that are false.

thanks for sharing these. I am saving all posted pix in a file folder that my material for this thread is in....people change servers & if it is from web, they often "disappear"..

Thank you for another lovely pix.. did you take this one? I often miss rainbows in outings as they follow rain. I do walk my dogs in all weather..including heavy rain but normally do NOT take my camera along for obvious reasons.. so when the weather clears & the rainbow emerges, I am often deep in hike/outing sin camera. I always have a camera with me ...ie in purse, van etc. But with really adverse weather just not necessarily on my person when I am in "elements"

Sign of hope for certain. :). I'll have to ask Nicknamed Bob if he is still published on the web. Very talented. he is!

Thanks Dolly:) Thanks for your help. The Human Peeves was great!:) Maybe my daughter will do one with me for the Finest in the future. Maybe a Mom and kids relationships or something with that subject. I'd play that song In My Daughter's Eyes by Martina McBride and a Song I have for my son. ;) I was blessed to have been able to have her and my son. That would be a joy!

She really had fun looking for graphics. Unfortunately, we have had such computer troubles with cable for 2 weeks, we didn't have the time to spend that we would have liked to.
