The Saddam Tapes and Media Distortion

Media outlets invested in our defeat in Iraq have put forth serious efforts to discredit the reasons for going to war. One only need hear the absolute certainty in Tim Russert's voice to know that the liberal media considers the Iraq WMD issue over and done with. After countless repetitions of “no WMD,” you would think that people were thoroughly trained. It comes as no surprise that when the Saddam Tapes came to light, they had to be dealt with.

The first salvo in the liberal media’s unsuccessful attempt to deep-six the tapes came from Newsweek, when they published “The Saddam Tapes, What They Don’t Prove” a week before the presentation of the tapes. The writers, Mark Hosenball and Michael Isikoff, stated the tapes were taken without permission from an FBI-run translation center. They never asked the government why they gave the CD an UNCLAFFISIED label and shipped it out to a translation agency without knowing what was on it. It was from there that the CD ended up at my front door. They could have seen the canceled checks for services rendered had they asked.

bttt. I never expected the MSM to admit they made mistakes, let alone they participated in the production of lies.

"you would think that people were thoroughly trained"

Perhaps those of us not in the MSM fail to fully realize the extent to which the MSM is not only trying to cover-up the fact that it is not fair, but also that it is incompetent. The failure of Dan Rather may have had a bigger impact on the members of the MSM than we realize. In Walter Cronkite their "unfairness" is illustrated. But the Dan Rather episode was not only an illustration of unfairness, but also "incompetence", exposed by "bloggers" of all people.

The incompetence of one of their elite was exposed. The 'elite" shell that protected them for so long has been cracked, TWICE. In addition to being "unfair" the MSM are also incompetent people and now we know it, and (imagine their mental anguish) now THEY KNOW we know it, and they are scared.

No wonder the MSM is increasingly referring to the President as incompetent. They have been discovered and they are attempting to hang the sign on someone else's neck.

Excellent analysis. These folks, unfortunately got away with it for a lot of years but never adapted to the times. Just like Limbaugh says, they are using the old template and were exposed by a the "pajamas media". Their failures continue as circulations and ratings plummet and they try to blame the "stagnant" economy for the fact that they are having to cut jobs. They should call themselves the "Used to Be Mainstream" media.

Thanks for the laugh -- the MSM is so ignorant.

I'm pretty hard to "train" when you lie to me on so many levels.

If the average person were to read reports on the Docex Project, Operation Able Danger or Salman Pak they would have a greater understanding why we are in Iraq and the President being resolute.

Right now most Americans suffer with a short attention span being stuck on the bumper sticker mentality mantra drivel the mainstream media is throwing at them. President Bush does not care about polls nor should he and as time goes on the connection between Al Qaeda and Saddam are becoming more evident. The left are already backpedaling due to the info released from the Docex Project.

Here is a good quote that is fitting "History- Everyone can recognize history when it happens. Everyone can recognize history after it has happened; but it is only the wise man who knows at the moment what is vital and permanent, what is lasting and memorable." Sir Winston Churchill
