Thousands line Phoenix street in protest march

Thousands of supporters of immigrant rights march to the office of U.S. Sen. Jon Kyl in Phoenix. Many said they were most incensed by what they see as punitive immigration reform proposals, especially one approved by the House in December that would make unlawful presence in the United States a felony.

(Phoenix, Arizona-AP) March 24, 2006 - One of the protesters in a big march in Phoenix says immigrants are "here for the American Dream."

Police estimate at least 10,000 people joined the rally calling for more "humane" changes to immigration laws.

A 50-year-old resident of the city says the punitive measures being eyed on Capitol Hill are "racist." He says, "You're not going to find terrorists outside a Home Depot looking for a job."

The protesters marched to US Senator Jon Kyl's office. He's sponsoring an immigration bill.

In Georgia, activists say thousands of workers took part in a work stoppage Friday to protest a measure passed by the state House Thursday.

It would deny state services to illegal immigrants and impose charges on their wire money transfers.

About 200 protesters gathered on the steps of the Georgia Capitol. Some had Mexican flags and others carried signs reading: "Don't panic, we're Hispanic."

Do you think that could never be applied to serving illegal aliens in a soup kitchen?

I think that it could, that it should, and I pray that it will.

"Don't panic, we're Hispanic."

Yeah, right! Time to buy that "lady winchester" I've been eyeing. Seems like my Glock won't be enough. How dare them! Illegals have no rights. And some these people are scum of the earth who cause a lot of trouble like the MS Gang! Do it the same way the rest of has did - the legal way! What upsets me too is the fact that a lot of people who are doing it legally have to wait years before they even get their green cards but wait they do.

I spoke with my Niece's fiancee who is also very upset. He said he will now vote for the bill. It took him 2 hours to get out since their home is off 24th St. when normally it only takes him 20 minutes to go to work.

with those on this thread who do want soup kitchens outlawed.

BS. No one has stated they want soup kitchens outlawed.

If the soup kitchen is knowingly aiding and abetting illegal immigration, then shut it down and arrest the people that run it.

That's all anyone has stated. I guess honesty is not one of your best qualities.

we homeschool our son, so there's ONE illegal alien's student who can be absorbed no problem.

Now all we need is 20 or 30 million more like you and the problem is solved.</ Sarcasm>

now, do you want to criminalize Priests offering "hot meals" to illegal aliens? See HR 4437 (the entire reason for this protest).

He or she, as the case may be, may not. I do.

Neither post supports your position.

As I stated, no one wants soup kitchens closed down, unless they are actively supporting illegal immigration.

Your claim was these posters wanted soup kitchens closed, period.

Your arguements sound as if they were straight out of a 13 year olds excuse file. Illegal immigrants know the rules. They MUST abide by them.

When it comes to churches aiding those who are breaking the law, the church is on the wrong side of the issue.

Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's. Jesus trumps clawrence3 in my Bible.

Do you think that could never be applied to serving illegal aliens in a soup kitchen?

You want to serve the needy in your soup kitchen...no problem take your kitchen to Mexico,El Salvadore,Nicaragua,Koobah...

Dont run that charity crap while millions of narco terrorists who work as part time farm workers are filling up the midwest with Mexican 'Red Meth'

Or MS13 and family masquerading as farm workers provide hideouts in the midwest for narco terrorists...as they are right now...they head on down to the local soup kitchen church group to enable them to surive and bring more of their ilk to live among us racists...by providing food, clothing and shelter..and money..and then lean on states to provide tax payer funded dental, medical, homes, cars, licenses, loans, tuition etc etc etc...

And when the illegal alien invasion is complete...and America is under martial law...the so called church groups can pat themselves on the back for helping to sink us..all in the name of their god...

Who is also anti America of our founders....

Want to serve non Americans?...become a missionary... Go to them do not bring them to us....

BIOYA-IMO

Actually, the U.S. Constitution contains many "rights" whether you are a citizen or not.

Yeh, just wait until us whities are in the minority in this country then see how many rights WE have. It's coming, thanks you all you greedy people who want "cheap" labor in this country.

My sis in law works at a Catholic parish and I asked her about the Catholic stance on illegal immigration. She says it is all about money, at least here in Calif.
Their only growth is in illegals. For example: they did over 1600 baptisms last year. She said at least 50% of the parents were illegal. They are doing masses round the clock and guess what? Those people give 10% of every dime they get/make.
Don't be fooled, it is not about charity, it is about the money.

As I rode through the town of Manassas, Virginia and looked at the Spanish signs and hispanic population that now surrounds me, I realized how the French felt after the Germans had occupied the country.

We live in an occupied city. There is no United States or allied force to save us from the occupation.

What is the solution. How do we take our country back when our Vichy government won't help?

These churches need busting and quick.

I am wondering what bible these ill advised protestors, whatever church they attend, are basing their arguments on, how illegal fence jumpers should be treated other than according to the laws they are violating and please those of you who are going to use the age old crap that our laws governing the handling of illegals in this instant are in direct opposition to the laws of God, you're dreaming or are being misled by some loud mouthed church hierarchial politico that claims his interpretation is straight from the mouth of God get over it, it ain't so!
