Planned Parenthood Abortion Centers Lure Teens With iPods, Movie Tickets
LifeNews ^ | March 30, 2006 | Steven Ertelt

San Francisco, CA -- Teenagers in the United States are having abortions in fewer numbers than at any time since Roe v. Wade and are more pro-life than older Americans. That means fewer customers for Planned Parenthood, but the abortion business has come up with a corporate marketing plan to lure teens with free iPods and movie tickets. Planned Parenthood Golden Gate, the center that gave teenager Holly Patterson the dangerous abortion drug that killed her, is leading the way with the new marketing scheme.

Anyone who makes an appointment at one of the eight PPGG centers before April 30, 2006, can enter to win an iPod.

A poster announcing another Planned Parenthood program, called “Tell-A-Friend,” includes a photograph of a teenage girl whispering into the ear of another teen and telling. The text of the ad reads: "Get free movie tickets? Yes. When you tell a friend about Planned Parenthood."

"These are some of the schemes Planned Parenthood is using to lure teenagers into its deadly facilities,” said Douglas Scott, president of Life Decisions International, a group that organizes boycotts of companies that contribute to the abortion business.

“Now which age group is most likely to be swayed by this kind of gimmick?” Scott asked. “This incentive is clearly aimed at young people.”

“Planned Parenthood has resorted to common corporate tactics in an effort to get young people to encourage their peers to voluntarily become the pro-abortion group's new victims," he said.

In the tell a friend campaign, teens are asked to obtain a special card at a Planned Parenthood center or download one from their web site. The promoter gets two free movie passes redeemable at any United Artist theater and the friend receives $10 off her first visit.

Other Planned Parenthood abortion businesses other than PPGG are using the campaign as well, including the Planned Parenthood ffiliate network in Colorado.

Scott said the cards are also offensive because they include graphics from a cartoon video PPGG produced calling for violence against pro-life advocates. A superhero in the cartoon asks abortion advocates to participate in the "elimination" of pro-life people and shoots them with a ray gun.

"Just like any other business, a key target group for Planned Parenthood is young people,” Scott said. "And once a teenager is hooked, he or she can prove to be a good source of income for many years to come.”

LDI is currently investigating to determine if United Artists donated the tickets to Planned Parenthood or if they were purchased by the group. The pro-life group has not yet called for a boycott of the movie theater company.

If we got rid of the 11 million illegal aliens, got rid of the stifling employment laws that make illegals much cheaper and more attractive to hire than citizens, and booted all the lazy citizens off welfare, there would be a lot fewer teens and young adults breeding irresponsibly.

Killing a preborn baby, from conception forward, is always wrong. Projecting blame for all future sins of society upon them doesn't change the immorality and sheer wrongness of killing them in their innocence.

I looked at the card you can print out, a smart guy could get a load of movie passes if he simply got every female he knows to go and whizz on a pregnancy test...

One of the sickest things I've ever heard of. "Kill your baby, get an Ipod."

Abortion is not about saving women’s lives!

Studies Find Abortions Have Long-Term Adverse Effects

Total Abortions since 1973

45,951,133

------------------------------------------------------------

Why the drop after 1960? (in deaths of women from illegal abortions)

The reasons were new and better antibiotics, better surgery and the establishment of intensive care units in hospitals. This was in the face of a rising population. Between 1967 and 1970 sixteen states legalized abortion. In most it was limited, only for rape, incest and severe fetal handicap (life of mother was legal in all states). There were two big exceptions — California in 1967, and New York in 1970 allowed abortion on demand. Now look at the chart carefully.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Abortion Statistics - Decision to Have an Abortion (U.S.)

· 25.5% of women deciding to have an abortion want to postpone childbearing

· 21.3% of women cannot afford a baby

· 14.1% of women have a relationship issue or their partner does not want a child

· 12.2% of women are too young (their parents or others object to the pregnancy)

· 10.8% of women feel a child will disrupt their education or career

· 7.9% of women want no (more) children

· 3.3% of women have an abortion due to a risk to fetal health

2.8% of women have an abortion due to a risk to maternal health

----------------------------------------------------------------------

So how many women’s lives have been saved by abortion?

Only about 3% of abortions since 1972 were reported to be “due to a risk to maternal health.” A reasonable person would recognize that not all of those cases represent a lethal risk. But let’s say they did. That means that nearly 45 million fetuses were butchered to save the lives of about 1.3 million women. Or put another way; 35 babies are killed to save each woman.

Abortion was legal in all 50 states prior to Roe v. Wade in cases of danger to the life of the woman.

My guess is that the management of Planned Parenthood is paid quite well.

"it would cost at least a thousand times more to fund the hordes of unwanted babies which would otherwise be born."

According to Charmaine Crouse Yoest in Policy Review,"For many years now, only 1 to 2 percent of women faced with unwanted pregnancies have made adoption plans. At the same time, the number of couples waiting to adopt is usually estimated at around 2 million." So speaking of "unwanted babies" is highly inaccurate, since every baby born is wanted by somebody. And in this country, it is very common for prospective adoptive parents to pay the birthmother for the costs associated with pregnancy and childbirth.

Your objection that the government would have to pay for "hordes of unwanted babies" is untrue, and also shockingly demeaning to the human dignity of the babies in question.

Acc to the PPGG policy stated at http://web.archive.org/web/20041010180142/www.ppgg.org/teens/ -- "If you are age 12 or older, we will not tell your parents that you came to Planned Parenthood and you do not need your parents' permission to visit us."

I wonder how many babies around the world who are WANTED by their parents die, but could be saved with much less effort then that expended on trying to force people who don't want them to keep them ?

They are using them to try to get teens into the clinics and onto contraceptives BEFORE they get pregnant -- trying to head off the "it won't happen to me" mentality that teens are prone to.

How about teaching people: (1) pregnancy outside of wedlock is not acceptable; (2) the availability of abortion does not change (1); (3) finding the right person to settle down with is better than a million short-term relationships; (4) developing promiscuous habits will make it harder for a person to settle down with the right person; (5) delaying intercourse until after marriage is a 100% effective way to prevent non-marital pregancy; (6) using contraceptives while engaging in non-marital sex is not a 100% effective way to prevent non-marital pregnancy.

Agreed, a billion times.

The PPGG site lists the following as their services: birth control; annual pelvic exams; sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment; HIV testing; emergency contraception; primary care.

I have no problem with any of those services, and getting teen girls to tell their friends about them by doing some giveaways is a pretty clever idea.

Nobody says the mother has to keep the baby for more than the balance of its "nine months". After that, she can give it up for adoption.

Indeed, I would posit that society was better when it was absolutely expected that unmarried woman who got pregnant would either get married before the child was born or else give the child up for adoption. The government policies that have encouraged single-parenting are disastrous for everyone involved (except those seeking to advance the cause of world socialism, of course).

Indeed they are... See below from The Center for Reclaiming America

U.S. taxpayers are being forced to help sustain the leading provider of abortions—Planned Parenthood.

The 2003-2004 Annual Report for Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), reveals that the abortion provider performed 244,628 abortions in 2003 —a 6.1 percent increase from the year before. In 2004, Planned Parenthood performed 255,015, another 4.3 percent increase. In all, Planned Parenthood is responsible for 20 percent of all abortions performed in the U.S.

With abortions on the rise, adoption referrals are in rapid decline. In 2003, just 1,774 pregnant women were referred to adoption agencies—nearly a 10 percent decline over the previous year. In 2004, referral numbers declined to 1,414, a nearly 20 percent decrease. Even more staggering is the fact that Planned Parenthood now performs 180 abortions for every one referral to an adoption agency—and your tax dollars are helping to fund this booming business!

But that’s not all, even as Planned Parenthood’s adoption referrals continue to decline, along with annual breast exams (down 17.9 percent since 1998); midlife services (down 51.2%); and the number of infertility and prenatal clients, the organization is rewarded with a 60 percent increase in government grants and contracts. In fact, over the past 15 years, the federal government has provided Planned Parenthood with roughly $2.76 billion. Enough is enough--death and taxes do not mix!

Castro gave everybody a rice cooker. Must be a nice guy.

I watched documentary about Pol Pot a few years ago. They interviewed a number of people who thought he was great. They said he actually helped quite a few people. I guess he was really alright after all.

What's a little murder when you do nice things too?
