I'll believe we're playing on a level playing surface when I see them sending kids home for wearing white-devil-cancelling X's, Mexican-flag tees, Black History Month tees, Our Lady of Guadelupe tees, gangbanger color-coded ensembles, formal FUBU's, raised-fist tees, Che Guevara tees, red-green-and-black shoulder patches and ribbons, little red ribbons, fish-with-feet logos, natty dread, zoot suits, red/black/brown berets, Chinese-character tees, Hasidic "four corners" long-locks, Pali "chain-link" pattern scarves, and hijab/jilbab Moo-suits.
Have they been doing any of that?
Didn't think so.
Yep. I think the dress code I quickly devised (basically my old high school's dress code) covers most of the bases. Maybe it needs more thought and refinement. I'm no expert.
I know that the simple thing i outlined is beyond what most public schools do now. That being said, they should at least consider moving in that direction. Makes the school environment more professional.
I outlined a simple dress code (that I admit needs work) in post 39 above. It's not that complicated and addresses some the concerns in your post. It can be further refined to address some other things you mentioned.
That's why I'm for a modest dresscode that still gives some leeway in dress but maintains a professional atmosphere.
There you go!
Thanks for the reminder that "disruption" is a behavior.
Perhaps, if they don't like Confederate flags (not letting them off the hook, but......), perhaps something a little more subtle would do the job. Such as slacks and a frock coat in dove grey or butternut, or perhaps light blue-grey, with either sky-blue or squash-colored straight collars and cuffs? Something like that?
Watch what happens then.
One size fits all, and all.
Satisfies my dress code. I think its a classic case of outsmarting yourself: I think that none of our best and brightest young minds - or adult minds - would 'get' it. :-)
It's only disruptive in school because they have allowed it to be. Black people in the South had no issues with this flag until they were told they were supposed to feel offended.
imo
Why would she intentially wear hated clothes. She should be charged and fined. The school said no to these clothes and she disobeyed so she should be punished. I pray that this stupid lawsuit is dropped by some great judge. This is a travesty that someone would wear a symbol of hate when it was not allowed.
but I don't think the family could be forced to pay if they lose.
I 100 percent disagree. She is the one that is wasting time when she should be studying. I bet she is stupid too. No I changed my mind just ignorant.
Under what statute? I am no expert, but I am unaware of "loser-pays" statute that would apply in this case.
"I bet she is stupid too."
Well, aren't you the little pot-stirrer. You should be careful about calling someone else stupid, while using poor punctuation and misspelling words.
Are you a liberal MSM lover? It does not bother me that you slide on the liberal side. The reason I ask is because you took one little snippet from my post and cut it down to look like that was the only thing I said. I changed the word to ignorant. Why give only half truths? Oh and I never claimed to be smart. The only reason that I think she is "stupid" (for this situation ONLY) is because she is wasting time on a nonscence lawsuit when she should be in class. That is it.
"Are you a liberal MSM lover? It does not bother me that you slide on the liberal side."
Oh, please. There are about 5,000 replies in my history, and you'll not see anything that sounds liberal in the leftist sense, whatsoever, if you bother to look.
You're the one talking about "hate clothes" and "hate symbols," so you might want to rethink this.
(I'm joking, to illustrate a point:do you think this school district has any problem whatsoever with "Malcom X" shirts? Rainbow flags? Are these not considered "symbols of hate" by someone, somewhere? Where do you draw the line?)
After all, these things are what they're teaching in school these days. They certainly are not teaching those silly things like "History," "Science," "The English Language," "Composition," and other outmoded patriarchal white racist concepts.
