Black TV Shows Have More Fast Food Ads

CHICAGO - There are far more ads for fast food and snacks on black-oriented TV than on channels with more general programming, researchers report in a provocative study that suggests a link to high obesity rates in black children.

The results come from a study that lasted just one week in the summer. Commercials on Black Entertainment Television, the nation's first black-targeted cable channel, were compared with ads during afternoon and evening shows on the WB network and Disney Channel.

Of the nearly 1,100 ads, more than half were for fast food and drinks, such as sodas.

About 66 percent of the fast-food ads were on BET, compared with 34 percent on WB and none on Disney. For drinks, 82 percent were on BET, 11 percent on WB and 6 percent on Disney; and for snacks, 60 percent were on BET, none on WB and 40 percent on Disney.

My college English prof said "You can lecture in a novel, but don't get caught."

I wish he'd talked to Ayn before she started typing.

"I had that feeling I get when I've been under the hairdryer too long"

Never having had the experience, I'll just have to imagine that your scalp felt too tight, lol?

I just picture the entire world slumped over next to their radios, snoring and drooling....

Plus, there's no sin like bad timing... AS is a 30's book written during the boom of the 50's.

If things keep going the way they are going, there could be a renewed spark of interest in the ideas.

"The Fountainhead" had something of a transformative effect upon Ronald Reagan, so Rand has been quite influential, and continues to be so. We owe her a debt of gratitude, but her writing style still leaves a lot to be desired.

Don't whites watch BET? Don't blacks watch WB or Disney? This study proves very little. Maybe BET made a push to get the advertising, maybe its cheaper? Who knows? Flawed study if you ask me?

Then again if I hear 'dada-da-da I'm lovin' it' one more time, I'm going to throw up.

ALL things encountered by, experienced by, or marketed towards blacks MUST be exactly the same that that which whites encounter, experience, and have marketed...

But they must also be changed to reflect black culture, black history, and black preferences, which are different from those of whites, because we MUST honor diversity.

ANY variation from these rules MUST be met by high-profile lawsuits, indignation, riots, and generous amounts of race-card playing.

Best fast food ads are Jack in the Box. Wendy's is second, by default. McDonald's "dada-da-da-da I'm lovin' it!" is near the bottom, but survey says:

The Burger King ads with that King with the plastic head are the gayest ads ever done.
