>>In 2000 Katherine Harris was the Secretary of State of FL and it was her duty to certify results of election recounts in all the FL counties. She had a specific deadline to meet that was mandated by FL election laws passed by the FL Legislature.
She upheld the FL election laws and did her job with grace and courage despite despicable personal attacks launched by the Dems and their media cohorts.
Perhaps Democrats should direct their anger at the Supreme Court if they still want to complain. In 'Bush v. Gore' the US Supreme Court ruled in a 7-2 vote that the hand recounts violated the equal protection clause of the Constitution because since different standards were used by voter counters the recount did not treat all votes equally.
Since both federal law and the Constitution require that the electoral votes for president be cast on a certain day, Florida's electoral votes would not be counted if the deadline was missed. Therefore the Supreme Court ruled in a 5-4 decision that there was not enough time left to conduct a manual recount that would pass the Constitutional requirements. That ruling left Bush the certified winner in Florida with 537 votes more and Gore conceded the election.
In December 2001 I met her in person for the first time at a Sarasota Republican Club Christmas Party. One of my first comments to her was...."Thank you for your courage in 2000 despite the hateful personal attacks from the media and the Democrats." She responded that she was 'just doing her job and her duty to uphold Florida's election laws'. <<
THE ABOVE STATEMENTS ARE VERY TRUE !
I have done much research over 'The Web' in the last 8
months to uncover to my dismay, but not to my surprise, the extent the GANGSTERCRATS have gone to, and will go to, in their attempt to attack and destroy our dear Katherine !
It will get very nasty as November nears !
The Lawful Courts of this land have upheld the actions of
then Secretary of State Harris and she has been since cleared of any wrongdoing by the US Congress and its' investigators .
The Gangstercrats still and probably will, always maintain their vendetta against Katherine .
WE MUST NOT AND WILL NOT EVER LET THE 'CRATS WIN !
Let us all use this day, to mark Katherine's Senate Campaign forward, and to victory over the malign forces that would seek to harm our beloved congresswoman !
Thank you all, and God bless . .

Great Thread to congratulate Katherine on her Birthday. Katherine will be in my County (Highlands)on Saturday at 2pm for a reception at the Historic Kenilworth Hotel in sebring. We will be getting lots of Folks to come out to show support for her. She has two Relatives that are State Reps and State Senators in Polk and Highlands Co, and comes from a great Citrus/Ranch salt of the Earth Floridians. She has support from a variety of Segments of the population, and with a good campaign she will beat Nelson, who has changed totally since he was first elected to State Government. He is a LIBERAL, and lies about being conservative. The he-coon Lawton Chiles did the same thing. He sold his soul/Prostituted himself for Power in the Democrat Party.

I should have asked for crumpets. As far as I know, I've never had one.

How about these apples.......Paula Hawkins (the first woman U. S. Senator in Florida history) was also the first woman in Florida history to run for statewide office (Florida Public Service Commissioner). She became the first woman in Florida history to garner over 1 MILLION VOTES!.
One million votes was unheard of at the time (1976).
FLORIDA VOTERS WILL VOTE FOR INTELLIGENT AND FEARLESS WOMEN CANDIDATES!
Paula went on to become our first woman Senator in 1980. So it's approx 20 years since we"ve had a woman representing our state in the hallowed halls of the Senate.
Katherine, we'll do our best plus a lot more to see you carried to Washington DC on the waves of a mighty vote.
Leni
