MSNBC reported late Wednesday afternoon that a grand jury would hear evidence against Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-4th Ga.) on Thursday.

No word is available on how soon a warrant may be issued against McKinney.

The Washington Post reports Capitol police want McKinney prosecuted on a misdemeanor charge of assaulting a police officer. The fourth district congresswoman has said she's a victim of racial profiling and insists she struck the officer after he touched her inappropriately.

I like the part where DeLay calls her a racist (though folks in her camp think DeLay is racist, so it's thought of as a non-starter)...

A DC grand Jury?...Nothing will happen to her.

I'll fall off my chair if she was indicted.

I'll bet that her mug shot doesn't come off as good as Delay's.

If I struck a police officer I would be thrown down and cuffed, put in the back seat of a cruiser, and booked, and locked up. Who gave this nitwit the right to be an exception.

A Grand Jury for a misdemeanor charge? That doesn't sound reasonable. Maybe for a felony, but not for a misdemeanor.

A Grand Jury for a misdemeanor charge?

They're just trying to avoid responsibility. Give it to someone else to decide. Not my fault how it comes out.

a misdemeanor charge of assaulting a police officer.

If you hit a cop where I live, it's a felony.....If there's anything left of you to prosecute.

Nice little game of hot potatoe we've got going on here. The cops toss it to the DA, the DA throws it to a grand jury, the grand jury...?

This screams (if you'll pardon the phrase) whitewash.

They're afraid of the controversy, so they kick it to a DC Grand Jury, probably made up of 85% black women, and let them refuse to indict.

They say a Grand Jury will indict a ham sandwich.

However, she's a baloney, sharp tongue and head cheese combo, so she's gonna get off scot free.

LOL. Yep, and you are right, she will get off, whereas you and I would not. Then again, we are not given to striking law officers doing their jobs.

I am surprised hitting a cop in a misdemeanor. Maybe she was just having a bad hair day.

From her pictures, it would appear that every day is a bad hair day.

I can't imagine them actually indicting her, let alone punishing her. Perhaps they'll surprise me.

Cythia McKinney's a lot of bad things, but there is no indication that she has murdered anyone.

A DC jury will nominate her for sainthood.
