SAN JOSE - A day after some 25,000 people marched for immigrants' rights in downtown San Jose, the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors narrowly passed a resolution that opposes criminalizing undocumented immigrants and those who help them. Instead, the board adopted a resolution that supports legalization for immigrants who have lived in the United States for five years or more.

The Santa Clara supervisors, of course, have Mexicans and other Latins in mind. Now, how about half a million Pakistanis out in the fields?

I don't think they'd like that, but I gurantee it can be done!

Does mean that they local laws override Federal Laws?

It probably has about as much force of law as a new years resolution. If I lived there I think I'd send them a nice registered letter noticing them that I accept their oath office and we now have a firm binding contract for them to protect my rights and the Constitution......they did invoke "so help me God", didn't they?

These, obvious Leftists, make me want to throw up. There must be thousands in Arlington Cemetery rolling over in their graves. Brave soldiers sacrificed their lives for this mess. Americans better wake up before it's too late!

I don't support this resolution but it is refreshing to see local municipalities ignoring federal law. Perhaps the next step will be a state outright nullifying federal law on some other issue.

Do I agree with what Newsome did or what is being done here? Of course not. But the very fact that nullification has become an acceptable political action is worth it. Unfortunately what we're seeing currently is those from the liberal side of politics using it.

Pro-amnesty people who tell us "deportation" is not an option because of the logistics of the problem. How about the logistics of the compromise bill? Figuring out who has been here for 5 years, who has not. Who has been here two years, who has not.

What do we do with the illegals not covered in the 2 years and the 5 year plan? Do we deport them? Do we tolerate them being here? "Deportation" is out of the question with these people. Right?

yes... and the US, and the world for that matter, are just much more liberal than they were years ago.

The truly sad thing is, when I was a kid, Santa Clara County had a Republican majority, and the San Jose Mercury was considered a conservative paper. Back the, the Examiner was also conservative and the Chronicle was moderate. Gays were still quiet and Reagan was Gov. I now shed a tear ....

Send in the National Guard, arrest the local and state politicians for violating their oath of office and for treason. Can civil war be a possibility? Is this our 1860?

Excuse me?!? This is nullification not secession. Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions ring a bell? The states were not intended to be subservient to the d*mned national government, they were and still are equals.

i just paid my property taxes to the Santa Clara County Tax Collector. Now I know what they do with the money. They won't fix my friggin sidewalk that was destroyed by a tree THEY cut down, but damn illegals will get fed, serviced medically and housed on my $$$. Sickening. If I wasn't so busy working to pay my taxes to support the illegal population, I'd go down and protest. Rat Bastards.

I believe resolutions are non-binding - just a statement of their stand on the issue - right?
