Maybe some of these college students will finally get a clue, become curious and start doing some reading/investigating/thinking of their own.

While I was finishing my degree (in the 1990's) my university library had a big promotion making fun of books which had been banned at some point in history. The slogan was "Read a Banned Book!", and numerous books which had been banned at some time or another were listed for checkout and reading.

It was pretty funny, but I guess the implication was that books had been banned historically only for violating Conservative mores. How funny these uber-leftists want to now be the ones doing the banning, not the ones flaunting the ban!!

This would never happen at Penn State.

How can you be so sure? (I'm a PSU grad, that's why I'm asking.)

This one is truly outrageous!

I do too, but I just can't believe we are finding these stories. Even if you do not like someones political thoughts. What does sexual harassment have to do with it. This story is too strange.

This Librarian must have done something else to have sexual harassment charges like saying hey man I can read these to you while nakked or something. There must be more to this story. MUST!!!

Not hypocritical at all, unfortunately, once you decode 'civility,' 'tolerance,' and 'mutual respect' -- especially 'tolerance' (add: 'for thee, not for me').

I'm sitting in a Barnes & Noble near the University of Virginia reading and posting to FR. You ought to see some of the looks I'm getting.

I might look too because I never saw anybody working on a computer in that store. Just a thought. I can't see how a person can see what you are working on unless they practically come up from behind you and then see the shocking horrified website you are on.

Maybe this guy needs some freeper help in the form of a letter writing campaign. Write to the college paper, write to the deans, write to the university alumni, write to the local press, write to support the librarian. I bet the students are smarter than these professors, and if this story got into the school paper - even in the form of an ad - the charges would be dropped and the complaining professors will be thoroughly embarassed.

If you have any info for contacting local media or the school paper I'd like to do my part. I am incensed at this story.

Tenure policies at universities protect these radicals and they must be changed!

Yes. This is the key.

When the likes of Angela Davis at University of California Santa Cruz is given tenure, I think it should just be cut off from all federal funds - - including any grants, student loans, financial aid, tax exemptions, etc.

Another primary problem here is the funding for the Left with all of their 501(c) tax-exempt corporations. When will the Republicans get the message???

...saying that the book suggestions made them feel “unsafe.”

Apparently these poor professors are under some misapprehension as to the meaning of the word unsafe. I suggest they be dropped off in downtown Columbus at two in the morning unarmed and wearing nothing but their underwear. They would then be well aware of the concept of safety and would be unlikely to misuse the term in the future.

Savage was put under “investigation” by OSU’s Office of Human Resources after three professors filed a complaint of discrimination and harassment against him, saying that the book suggestions made them feel “unsafe.

There should be no place "safe" for people with such attitudes. None.

Mansfield conservative? Maybe Ontario and Lexington and Clearfork - surrounding towns - but not Mansfield. Mansfield spawned Sherrod Brown, schools so bad that not even a teacher friend of mine will vote for their levies, bombed out economic base destroyed by democratic unions. When I think Mansfield, I think Cleveland, I think cities in democratic ruin. Perfect place for OSU nazis to set up a re-education camp.

"How funny these uber-leftists want to now be the ones doing the banning, not the ones flaunting the ban!!"

Perhaps it has something to do with the ideological isolation under which most universities exist. The "diversity" of political, social, and ideological thought is limited to the far left. The professors live in ivory towers within these institutions, creating an almost incestuous relationship within the campuses. It's a classic example of "group think" with very little or no "tolerance" for any dissent. The hypocritical nature of what these universities are doing apparently hasn't occurred to them.
