I agree but the attacks on Laura by some freepers were just as bad, all because her office stated all were welcome how that comment was twisted was beyond belief.

I'm glad I didn't see the thread, then. What's the First Lady supposed to do? Throw herself in front of the WH gates to keep them out?

Sheesh, but the fringe wackos we have around here are every bit as infuriating as the fringe wackos on the Left. They simply cannot get it through their heads that the White House and its annual events are separate from the political side of the presidency -- as are the ceremonial head of state duties of the White House occupants. Just because the gay and lesbian wing of the Left wants to trash this childrens' event, doesn't mean our First Lady must lower herself to their level. That would just turn it into a bigger circus than if she just welcomes them in her typical dignified way.

Since this is Easter, I think it appropriate to remind folks that Jesus taught us to turn the other cheek. That's nearly impossible to do under all circumstances, but because children are involved here, I think it's the only appropriate thing the First Lady can and should do.

The black and white 1911 photos wow x 2!

Yep. Too bad it's a little too small to see Lindbergh clearly.

Wow, Wolfstar what a wonderful collection of information & pictures. Thank you so very much.

It is interesting & it made me again wonder (but I have never asked or researched) just when did the fence go up at the Whitehouse

Grin...neither one. Barney keeps them off the WH grounds. ;-)

Hi Dolly. You're welcome. I'm not certain about when the fence went up at the WH, but believe it was during WWII.

This picture looks fowl to me.

I don't know how safe this is with all the news about avian flu lately. ;-)

How large is the area they actually hold this on, it must be a couple acres at least for all that many folks.

It sure would be fun to go to a WH BBQ sometime.

I think they hold it on the South Lawn, which is quite large. Give me a couple of minutes, and I'll post an aerial image of the WH grounds from Google Earth. That will give you a good idea of the size of the area.

Is it me or does it look like Cheney is a little lighter in those pics? good for him, if so. the last thing we need is a chubby VP,, not that he ever got too big mind you, not like some have and do, and considering all the years in politics, not an easy feat in and of itself.

Looks we may finally get out of the wet pattern here next week up here in NorCal, it's been a mess all over up here, mudslides etc,

Hopefully the President will view some while he's here, he'll be in California, up North first and then in the Southland soon.

He'll be here at in San Jose and then in Napa for a night's stay, I hope he gets a chance to squeeze in a mudbath .

Norm, here's a Google Earth image of the White House grounds. The South Lawn is in the lower part of the image. You can see the area is very large.

Can you believe Arnold is "trying" to find some time to meet with the President. Man, I cannot stand our governor. Wish he'd go back to Hollyweird where he belongs.

Few images evoke the joys and colors of Spring than this -- take the time to enjoy the world we live in.

That "gay parents at the easter-egg hunt" stunt sucks. It is VERY political, no matter what they say, and I hope the president doesn't show up. How desperate they have to be to ruin a children's day for their own agenda!...Now, on with Sanity Island!

I took a nap, so don't know if the hunt is over yet or not.

It's TOTALLY political. Those people apparently never heard of the truism: there's a time and place for everything.
