The greatest day in her life was the day her son died. He made her a media darling and she's loving every minute of it.

It's pretty scary how a little fame will cause a person to just turn their back on EVERYTHING real in their lives. I hope I would be more honorable in a similar situation.
Think about it, she has a community of people, doing a beautiful and selfless thing, trying to help her and honor her son. - Then she lies about it, etc. - She was probably put up to it by one of the poverty pimps or other anti-military nuts

It is the sad case where the son greatly exceeded the parents greatest dreams...and probably had far more intelligence, wisdom, and courage...than Cindy will ever have. Something I don't understand about all of this....The funeral director claims the military funding for the funeral was inadequate. If that was the case we would hear it from other families too. What the heck went on here?
Also the VA provides money for a headstone, but it has to be applied for.

I've never had a child killed in combat and will never know the feeling.
I used to feel sorry for her, thinking "Well, people grieve in different ways."
But she seems to be riding her son's death as hard and as long as she can. She's doing her utmost to extend the 15 minutes of fame that Andy Warhol once claimed everyone gets.
