April 1995, where was I? I have no idea.

I was at work, one and 1/2 miles from the Murrah Building. The blast rattled my building, and caused lots of folks in the several nearby buildings to get outside in the courtyard area.
To their credit, as soon as it was realized what had happened, the administrators released all employees for the day.

I was watching the news on TV when the story broke. They were interviewing a guy who had called in on his car phone. He was on his way to work
in the Murrah building when he heard a deafening roar coming from the direction of Murrah.
In his words "I thought it must be a gas explosion, but then I realized there is no gas in the Murrah building".
Many poignant scenes and quotes that day, but I'll never forget the realization that something awful had happened in that guy's voice.
RIP all who lost their lives that day.

I was waiting at the traffic light near my house in OKC. It actually shook my car - I thought someone had hit me from behind. I turned into my driveway just as the DJ said something about a big boom from downtown. Did not turn on the TV until my brother called from GA to check on us.
I will never forget sitting at the little league ballpark that night. The rec.dept felt that the kids should have some "normalcy". No one was paying attention to the games - all the parents had either radios or tiny tvs. It was surreal.

Now I remember being in my dorm room, watching that abuse of power on NBC, more than I remember OKC. (I think I was at work or something...)

I was in my last semester of law school in San Diego. Less than a year remaining in the mainland before moving to an island in the South Pacific, never again to be concerned about terrorists, middle eastern men, islam, anthrax, or even daylight savings time...

I was sitting in a nurse's station at a nursing home charting, the residents were gathered around a big screen TV. My hubby called me (it was his birthday and he was out of town).
Then the news came on about the bombing. I remember just being dumbfounded and darkly teasing my hubby that his birthday was a bad omen.

I was sitting in a hospital room waiting for my husband to come out of surgery. The weird thing was, as he was coming out of the anesthesia, back in the room, I was watching the coverage of the bombing, and he later told me that he kept thinking the hospital had been bombed!
Anyway, very sad day.

I was in the pool at my apartment complex when the manager cam running out of the office screaming Oklahoma had been attacked. Spent the rest of the day in the office watching coverage with the leasing staff.

I was at work, listening to people immediately assume it was Muslims. Nothing much has changed. Interesting that one of the white supremacists was married to a Filipina.
You remember the Philippines? It's where the US Army developed the requirements for the Colt .45, as the .38's simply didn't stop the møøselimb extremists.
More recently it's where the "Bojinka" plot to simultaneously bomb a dozen or so passenger aircraft was hatched.
Bojinka evolved into the 9/11 plot.
Thank God there was no møøselimb connection to the Murrah blast though.
Back to sleep, enjoy your snooze...

I was in P.E. class when the news about the blast occurred. Despite my age and all, I immediately thought it was a ROP connection. In fact I still think there is. If that were the case, or made known, the American people would launch a crusade against the muslims worldwide... Perhaps it was the Clinton Administration's misguided but well meaning intent to avoid such an uproar in the people, and keep a ROP connection to OKC under wraps...
