Karl Rove to Lose Policy Portfolio
By NEDRA PICKLER, Associated Press Writer 6 minutes ago
WASHINGTON - In another move in an ongoing shakeup of President Bush's staff, longtime confidant and adviser Karl Rove is giving up oversight of policy development to focus more on politics with the approach of the fall midterm elections, a senior administration official said Wednesday.
Just over a year ago, Rove was promoted to deputy chief of staff in charge of most White House policy coordination. That new portfolio came on top of his title as senior adviser and role of chief policy aide to Bush.
But now, the job of deputy chief of staff for policy is being given to Joel Kaplan, now the White House's deputy budget director, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the president had not yet made the announcement.

This is good. Rove is very good at the politics game and at getting elections won.

Now that it's been leaked, I hope it's not true.
Altho I think it's time for Rove to retire.

Karl Rove is giving up oversight of policy development to focus more on politics with the approach of the fall midterm elections, a senior administration official said Wednesday. Even if this is true, this means more troubles for the democrats. Rove is back again to beat the sh*t out of them as he has been doing for the last five years.

Good call. The WOT is going well, but domestic policies are being co-opted by the dims, and the party is fractured. The economic strength, job creation (including illegal immigration), and money policy should be front page news. But noooooooo. We get a presser on Iraq. He should b!tchslap these clowns after they resign.

As I've been posting for months now, Rove is great at winning elections. Managing policy decisions and the PR effort that goes along with them, he is not. I think the list is long of the policy decisions and allowing the Rats and the MSM an avenue to beat Bush over the head with the missteps warrant his exit back to winning elections.

I heard a retired general (one of the good ones) say yesterday that he and about 15 others were in a meeting with Rumsfeld. They are saying that the problem is the PR. That there just has to be a better job of getting out the message of what the war is all about.
I do not know what could be said that would open the ears and minds of liberals, and a lot of conservatives as well.

This could be a great move.
Let Rove be Rove.
All politics all the time.

This is great news. Karl Rove's genius and skills can be better applied to defeating the enemies of America by concentrating on defeating Democrats in elections.
To: Sub-Driver
I see nothing bad about this move or that it should reflect negatively on Karl. He has work to do getting people elected and he must be free to refine his time to do so.

We'll see after the '06 mid terms. He's probably crossed his "best before" date, and has soured conservatism for the next 10 years.

I don't see it that way at all. Rove is a genius at politics and he's got to do some fast work in order for the GOP to do better in 2006.
We cannot afford to lose the House and Senate - and if we can actually pad both a little .. it will take even more power away from the dems and hopefully make the weaker GOP members realize that helping the dems isn't working.
