ACAPULCO- The decapitated heads of two police officials were found early Thursday dumped in front of a government building in this Pacific coast resort...

The heads of police commander Mario Nunez Magana and officer Jesus Alberto Ibarra were found at the same site where four drug traffickers died during a shootout with law enforcement.

The heads of the two -- who were involved in the Jan. 27 shootout -- were accompanied by sign that warned, "So that you learn to respect."

They were discovered about 3 a.m. in front of the city's Finance Department -- just over a mile from the city's main tourist zone ...

Acapulco, 180 miles southwest of Mexico City, has been shaken this year by more than a dozen high-profile shooting deaths as well as several grenade attacks on police stations.

Federal investigators link the violence to a turf war between drug gangs in northern Mexico for lucrative smuggling routes into the United States.

It's a quagmire. The Mexicans should pull out now, and Don Rumsfeld should resign.

Looks like they are taking a play out of the old Al Qaeda handbook.

And to think that the Fox affiliate(KPTV12) here in Portland is offering a 3 day trip to Mexico to some "lucky" winner.

It doesn't appear possible to just build walls, ignore Mexico, and hope stuff like this just goes away. We didn't do it in the WOT. Of course, Bush isn't a close amigo with Bin Laden.

It's probably not a bad thing in the overall scheme of things. Until it gets so bad in Mexico that the corrupt government actually decides to crack down, then nothing in that country will change.

And I don't know anything about these cops, but I do know that many of the police are corrupt. I would no more trust a Mexican policeman than I would an arab with an AK-47 trying to flag me down on the road in Yemen.

They're lucky because it includes a return ticket.

LOL!

I wouldn't go anywhere in Mexico if you paid me a million dollars. I don't care what kind of fabulous beaches it has.

Hopefully not in a body bag.

Oh, it's all Jesus-land except for those places where they cut your heart out to Huitzilopochtli with an obsidian knife.

My parents visited Acapulco about 20 years ago and said it was a great city with gorgeous beaches and extremely friendly people. They went back again last year, only this time they found it to be dirty, crime ridden, and full of drunks. The beaches are overcrowded, and the friendly people apparently all moved elsewhere. At one point, while they were walking from their hotel to a local restaraunt, a group of thugs started following them...even crossing the street mid-block with them. Luckily their restaurant was only two blocks from the hotel, and they made it there before the thugs actually tried anything. Even so, they called a taxi to take them back.

If you want a tropical beach vacation, go to Florida or Hawaii. They may still have their share of thugs and criminals, but they aren't as brazen and the police aren't nearly as corrupt.

A nice, armed, HUGE, wall would end that lucrative drug smuggling route...

I bribed two Mexican cops with 8 dollars, another time sat next to an illegal that bribed his Mexican border guard with 5 dollars.
