A giant sinkhole that swallowed an Alta man in his living room Friday night was still growing Sunday, precluding rescuers from recovering the victim. Family friend Rick Armstrong said the missing man is presumed to be Jason Chellew, 32, though he deferred to authorities for an official identification.

Yup, have to read the article. I was starting to get scared it was gonna happen here.

Most likely an old mine shaft,Alta was a vast mining area during the mid 1800's.

The victim was relaxing in his living room and reportedly heard creaking noises. He sprang up and ran across the room just as the floor opened beneath him.Every day we read about some dumb schmuck doing something stupid and getting himself killed......but every so often, some poor, innocent guy minding his own business is in the wrong place at the wrong time. It could be any one of us.....

Wow, bummers of a way to go.

Hmm. You know you're not living right when a sinkhole swallows your recliner and your living room with you in them.

Like something from a horror movie.
When I read the first lines of that article, I actually thought it was a comic spoof. Then I realised it wasn't.

What was the sci-fi movie with Reba McIntyre as a survivalist?

He sprang up and ran across the room just as the floor opened beneath him. How do we know this?
Was someone else (not mentioned) there with him? how did this person escape?
Otherwise, he could have just been sitting on the couch when he got swallowed up...
