Texas Alert: FReeper runs for State GOP Office
BobbyEberle.com ^ | 4-24-06 | Bob J

Posted on 04/24/2006 11:46:09 AM PDT by Bob J

Bobby Eberle who used to run GOPUSA is running for Vice Chair of the Texas GOP. Bobby has been a long time member of FR and has helped out on many of our projects in the past. He sent this note about his campaign for this position in Texas and thought I would pass it along to Texas FReepers who may be able to help him out.

"The 2006 elections are a crucial time for Republicans. As someone who gets feedback from grassroots conservatives across Texas and the United States, I know that the base is frustrated and worried. They are worried about the upcoming elections, and they are frustrated that Republicans "aren't acting like Republicans." They want accountability, and they want better communications between party and elected leaders and the grassroots."

"The office of Vice Chairman of the Republican Party of Texas is open, and I'm running for the spot because I know I can jump in and help the party as we battle the Democrats in November and beyond. I have led a statewide Republican auxiliary, and I have built one of the leading sources of Republican online news and commentary in the country -- GOPUSA. I want to use the skills I've developed in media, communications, and politics to help the Party energize the grassroots base and build a communication network so that our elected leaders know where conservatives stand on the issues and to let the base know what's going on in Austin and Washington."

The election will be held on June 3 in San Antonio by the delegates to the Republican Party of Texas State Convention. Any help you can lend me is greatly appreciated. There is much to do to get the word out and let delegates know that I am the right person for the job. I have the skills, experience, and proven track record to get the job done."

"Thank you so much for your help, and keep up the great work!"

Bobby

One question: Is he a conservative?

Not a George H Bush-Bob-Dole-George W Bush-the-GOP-slapped-a-"conservative"-sticker-on-me-for-the-election-season-Hugh Hewitt-wannabe conservative,

but a true conservative?

Bob Dole was and is "conservative," but he was not "a conservative."

Eberle appears to be a true conservative, based on both words and actions.
He'll be a welcome change in a party hierarchy that has too long been dominated by one faction and one agenda.

I'll be supporting him and voting for him in SA in June.

Now we need to also elect Gina Parker to the top slot.

Bobby's a great guy and the party would do well to have him.

However Dr. Robin Armstrong is THE Conservative in the race.

Check him out.

BTW Gina PArker is not running for Chairman this year.

As I suspected, based on Bobby's bio: He may be just a GOP party player, not deeply comitted to conservative principals but will wear the conservative mantle until he gets into office. That's my strong suspicion based on past experiences, and I will never vote for such policritters again. If abstaining or voting 3rd party puts Dems get into office, so be it. I'd rather die a quick death than a slow one.

Who's Hugh Hewit?

Surely not that feller who usurps Michael Savage's slot on KRLA?

Way to go, Bobby!

Eberle's got a ways to go for my support.

I was put on the GOPUSA email list months ago, without any request or action on my part. When it became apparent that it was always more "send me money" than solid news or information, I clicked the link to request that they remove me from their list.

I received no confirmation, and the spam kept coming, so I asked again to be removed. K9's still dumping one or more a day into my spam folder, though.

I don't like it when businesses and Democrats do it, but it's even more disgusting when Republicans and "conservatives" spam my Inbox after requests to stop. We should have higher standards and better ethics...

Bob,

Bobbie Eberle may have ran GOPUSA (a very good thing), but he hasn't done much in local Texas politics. He has shown up at several local events, but for some inexplicable reason has not done much socializing at these events, let alone made a formal pitch for his candidacy.

It will be interesting at the Texas State Republican convention, as we have two good candidates for Vice Chairman, who both live within 15 miles of each other, both are Doctors and both happen to be considered minorities. Whoever wins the election, it is Texas Republicans that win with such capable leaders.

Disclaimer: I am the webmaster for Dr. Robin Armstrong's website, listed elsewhere in this thread.

Not very involved in local politics??? Maybe he doesn't go back to the 1960's, he's a young guy who has been involved for quite a while. This guy knows grassroots win elections and will be great as Vice-Chair to someone who doesn't care about grassroots (Benkiser). Bobby has my vote next month. Fortunately he has already secured my SD and several others.

Bobby's activities within the Republican Party of Texas (RPT) include serving as a delegate to the 2000 Republican National Convention in Philadelphia. Bobby also served as a delegate to the RPT State Convention in 1996, 1998, 2000, and 2002. Bobby served on the RPT Education and Training Committee from 1998-2000. Bobby served as a member and chairman of the Rules Committee for Senate District 13 and was SD 13's representative on the Rules Committee of the 2000 RPT State Convention. In 1999, Bobby was recognized with a unanimously approved resolution of commendation by the Republican Party of Texas for service and dedication to the Republican cause.

Bobby served as President of the Houston Young Republicans, the Director of Club Development of the Texas Young Republican Federation, and as a three-term State Chairman of the Texas Young Republican Federation. On the national level, Bobby served as Chairman of the State Chairmen's Association. Bobby also served as Vice Chairman at Large of the Young Republican National Federation.
