The worst of it is, Bush is allowing Mexico to dictate and define our border laws, immigration policies, even our long-term political structure. Mexico has no incentive to reform itself internally as long as it can dictate to the United States what the United States must do to relieve the pressure on the Mexican government.

Bush's first and only oath and duty is to the United States of America. Mexico's interests aren't even on the table no matter how sympathetic he is personally to the plight of the illegal aliens.

And despite it all, he'll receive absolutely NO credit for his compassion from the recipients of his compassion.

6 million people have been turned back. And we got a strategy in place to make sure that this border is as tight as it possibly can be. What is he talking about?

6 million have been turned back? The border patrol says that 4 or 5 get through for every one "turned back". That would be 24 to 30 million. Maybe that's what he's trying to tell us.

There exists no such thing as a "job that Americans won't do", and I am heartily sick of the continued references to a nonexistent thing by politicians and the media.

I will not stand idly by and watch slavery, indentured servitude, and second class-citizenship reintroduced into the USA.

POTUS and politicians would do well to remember that.

Employee "Unions" first came into being, and quickly spread, to combat dishonest and unethical employers and their "corrupt" politicians, who worked to subvert freedom and manipulate capitalism for private unearned gain.

USA citizens would do well to remember that those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

We still have what's left of our Republic, but just barely.
(above pun unintentional)
Will we keep it for the next generation?

I disagree. Bush is an honest man with a big heart. I disagree vehemently with his approach on illegal aliens but I have never been more convinced that Bush is a decent, well-meaning human being.

Bush is a liar and a moron. That much has been proven. I hope he gets impeached. Wake up this guy is in the bag. He is not running this country. He is following orders.

FYI: I helped run precinct operations for San Diego County during his 2004 election. Spent over 100 hours volunteering.

That was pathetic. Where in the h*ll do we Republicans get these candidates? Not one has been worth a warm bucket of spit since Ronaldus Magnus. I vote in primaries but by the time they get to CA, it's been decided. Last time I wrote in Tancredo. This time, I will let my money do my voting and send money to someone who is worth something before Iowa and New Hampshire. But who?? Allen looked promising but looks like he will not take a stand and I will not support him unless he chnages that soon.

OK I'm confused...is this actually from a Bush speech or is it from The Onion?

"What is he talking about"?

"They were coming to work, see. They wanted to put food on the table for their families, and they weren't interested in checking back in".

He was saying he's really sympathizing with them and understands their plight. IOW's he doesn't blame them, see?

I wish Bush understood the American people as well.

"I really don't think his mind can be changed on this".
Nor do I.
I have no doubt at all that President Bush has a firm and unshakable stance on this issue.
And I knew when I cast my vote for him (twice) that we would need the other two branches of government to stop his "pet project", and IMNSHO, his incredibly warped and destructive position in this area, from achieving fruition.
We elect Presidents, not Kings.
That's the beauty in the design of our government.
I also vote for congressmen and senators, local, state and national, who I thought would fight him tooth and nail on this particular issue, but would also support him on the approximately 80% of other critical issues, of which I stand steadfastly behind President Bush.
It's called active participation in a democratic Republic.

Bush is a crook. Big OIL is his friend and they get RICH.

Unfounded statement. Do your homework. People who know nothing about the petroleum industry, or business in general, make these comments.

Bush is a liar and a moron. That much has been proven.

Where is the proof? Disagreement with a person does not mean that that person is a liar and a moron.

BTW, I totally disagree with W's immigration policies or anyone who supports amnesty for illegal immigrants. And that is why I will join the Constitution Party. The Spineless (Republican) Party is not much different from the Jackass party.

All you have to do is go to the gas station in your neighborhood.

The free market is now the big companies decide what you are going to pay. It is call a monopoly. (actually it is a olilopoly.)

People in this country will never stand for this crap. War profiteering like this used to get you shot.

Oligopoly: An oligopoly is a market form in which a market is dominated by a small number of sellers (oligopolists).

You must stop drinking the Kool-Aid. It will help you see that you have been screwed by BUSH. Clinton could never get away with the crap that has been coming out of the BUSH whitehouse.

When leaders screw up you kick them to the curb. Then the next leader will remember to listen.

The moron statement is easily proved. Every time the guy opens his mouth he proves it. And to think I put a yard sign out for him in 2004.

Here's what America needs to be like -- maybe 20 [years from now]...-- 10 to 20. You need to be driving an automobile with hydrogen as the main source of power.

20 years ago, they were touting the electric vehicle as the wave of the future and wasting millions of taxpayer dollars. Same ol' script.

This is the most well thought out post in this thread.

I get so mad at him when it comes to this issue, but we have to look at the whole picture.

"people coming to do work that the Americans will not do" GW BUSH .... What a load of crap. Let me tell you a simple story about a job that americans will not do. As a construction worker I was in an upper middle class home doing work one summer and the guy that services the Portable Toilet came to do his job. The teenagers at the house started making jokes about the guy- saying he had to suck shit for a living, etc. I mentioned that I believed he made $18 an hour- the teens were all saying "I would do it for that" That is the REAL ISSUE - Jobs americans won't do that are crappy unless you offer them a wage that is attractive. Bush thinks that we all should be begging for crappy jobs just like when Quayle said looks Burger King is hiring what is wrong with you people.

Unfortunately for America and Americans, it looks as though Junior is going to do to us with immigration, what his Daddy did 16 years ago with "no new taxes"!!!
