"That's a long way but say you were going 300-400 miles. By the time you get to the airport, check in an hour-two early and then get delayed, you can almost drive it."

You have got that right CindyDawg. I have a customer that is a 10 hour drive from my house and about a 1-2 hour drive from Chicago. If I look at the total round trip, I can almost always be home sooner if I drive than fly. To fly I have to drive from home --> airport, fly to Chicago, rent a car, drive to the customer, do what I have to do and then go back on the airline's schedule no matter when I am finished.

If I am driving, as soon as I am done, I am back on the way home and not being searched by some JBuT (Jack, Booted, union Thug).

I told a pilot for AA once that the airlines used to have one thing to offer and that was speed. Now that they are the greyhound of the sky and total trip time has increased, for trips under 12 hours, I have no use for the airline.

If the stewardess didn't have some urgent task before landing, like telling you to move your seatback forward 1.5 inches, it would be undeniable that she was a waitress.

You must be flying first class. In steerage, where my flying accomodations are, the seat reclines about .75 inches, if it reclines at all.
