Dean's DNC Continues to Lose Relevance in Democratic Politics
Human Events Online ^ | 28 April 2006 | Robert Novak

Posted on 04/27/2006 10:41:10 PM PDT by Aussie Dasher

The Washington Post recently ran a piece highlighting the fact that the Democrats' Congressional Committee is at parity with the Republicans in cash on hand and that their Senatorial Committee has doubled up the NRSC in cash on hand (although the two have raised about the same amount).

This is all true, and it is not good for Republicans. However, there has been some exaggeration as to just how bad it is.

The committees' success is partly, but not entirely, the result of Democratic fundraising prowess. It has just as much to do with the fact that the Democratic National Committee under Howard Dean is becoming an institution with which many Democratic donors will not entrust their cash.

Whereas Republican committees are actually competing with the high-dollar RNC (which raises more than half of all GOP committee cash), the Democrats have no such competition from Dean (whose committee has raised less than 40 percent of the Democrats' committee cash). The DNC in March (see chart) raised less than either of the two other committees -- itself an historical oddity.

That is not to say that this is a bad thing for Democrats. Indeed, the DNC has been notoriously ineffective in the last three election cycles, essentially the plaything of whoever has headed it, without a clear aim toward helping the party win elections. This hasn't all been Dean's fault -- recall the millions Terry McAuliffe spent trying to topple Gov. Jeb Bush (R) in Florida in 2002 and on other futile races.

The DCCC and DSCC, headed by members of the House and Senate, appear more motivated to improve the party's situation in those bodies. They are also safe places for Democratic supporters of Israel, wary of Howard Dean, to send their money.

Here is the key sentence.

It has just as much to do with the fact that the Democratic National Committee under Howard Dean is becoming an institution with which many Democratic donors will not entrust their cash.

Hillary and Harold Ickes have a competing fundraising machine, and George Soros is now backing it, having withdrawn his backing from Dean and the DNC machinery.

Democrats have raised record amounts of monies...yet they've lost the Presidency, House, Senate, Supreme Court, most state legislatures, and most state governorships.

What the Democrats have won, in contrast, has been their point of view in the news media, union halls, urban governments, and college campuses.

Interestingly enough, the news media is losing its audience to the internet, union halls are losing their members to right-to-work states, and urban governments are faced with annual population declines as citizens choose to migrate into the exurbs.

So at least 3/4ths of the Democrats' successes are in areas of decline...which mirror their political fortunes over the past half-dozen years.

Dr.Dean is serving contaminated drugs thru the DNC. It explains why so many of the dems sound out of sorts. :)

To include the idiots at CNN.

That corrupt network was predicting the "gas crisis" would be the DNC ticket to success come November.

Leave Howie alone, they might mess around and replace him with someone that knows what he doing.

Remeber...
The Hillary Cabal stole Demzilla on the way out the door of the DNC when Dean took over....

THEY control the institutional Dem Fundraising machine, not Dean...

Hillary needs a 2006 DNC defeat to boot Dean and the lunatics, who have become a liability, and a hinderance to her ambitions. Look for dem krystalNicht to happen soon after the November election....

In pesos?

But seriously, I'd like to know more about this, and whether the White House's disastrous immigration position has anything to do with thin coffers. I really don't know, not having taken the time to follow the GOP's financial condition.

Most folks that I know have quit giving cash to the Party, mainly because under this 'leadership', they were seeing their own money used to promote RINOs over conservatives over and over again.

These days, they only donate to individual candidates and organizations they believe in.

Very good points. I am glad that someone else out there looks at the demographic facts. It's like when I point out that Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton and the entire Democrat Party are directly responsible for allowing 911 to happen. All you need to do is lay a matrix on the incidents that occurred on his watch and catalog the actions through the years by folks like Sandy Berger, Jamie Goelick, Richard Clark, etc. The truth clearly opts out as to how these supposed leaders betrayed America by failing to take actions that would have protected both our military and civilian populations.

You know, I don't know what the ticket is to the elections in November. All I know is that I believe a whole lot of voters will care less who is running and what party they belong to because our government is truly running on empty. Sad.

The "conservative" republicans have spent my tax money like crazy since they have had power. They reefuse to take charge of my borders and kick out folks that came here illegally and broke our laws. I can't find much difference between the two major parties at this point. Neithere seem too interested in taking care of America or Americans.

This is a fascinating article. Since it was written by robert no-facts and it a) does not predict doom for Republicans and b) actually is coherent, it prove something.
It proves the old observation that if we put a monkey in from of a typewriter long enough he will type out something that makes sense, even if only by accident.
