Muslims to join pro-illegals protest in L.A.
Millions of activists expected to 'close' major cities May 1

Muslims in Los Angeles and elsewhere are being urged to join millions of Latino protesters in the streets May 1 to demonstrate in favor of leniency toward illegal aliens currently living in the United States unlawfully.
"In solidarity with immigration activists around the country, the Muslim Public Affairs Council as well as the Council on American-Islamic Relations - Los Angeles, the Islamic Shura Council of Southern California, the L.A. Latino Muslim Association, the Muslim American Society - Los Angeles, and the Muslim Students Association - West are calling on American Muslims to participate in a day of action on May 1, 2006," says a statement from the Muslim Public Affairs Council.
"Islam's message is one of social justice, economic fairness, and fair treatment in the workplace. The Quran urges the proper treatment and respect of workers."
Choosing May 1, the day Communists worldwide celebrate the worker, activists have vowed to "close" major American cities as millions of Latinos, both legal and illegal, mark what some organizers are calling "a day without an immigrant" and others refer to as the "Great American Boycott." They are urging supporters not to go to work, school or spend money on that day.
"It is to show the amount of work, the purchasing power, the contributions that illegal and undocumented workers make on a daily basis," Chris Banks, a volunteer for ANSWER, or Act Now to Stop War and End Racism, told the Desert Dispatch in California.
"RealIy, it is no different from the transit strike that took place in New York last December, and they shut the city down and it was to show the value of their work – the labor that they do," he said. "The labor they (illegal aliens) do for our collective well being is enormous."
The Muslim organization pushing participation is urging the faithful in Southern California to attend a march near downtown Los Angeles at 4 p.m. Monday.
"American Muslim organizations are calling for a comprehensive immigration reform that includes provisions for a pathway to lawful permanent residence for the undocumented currently in the United States, a temporary worker program that matches willing workers with willing employers, and a reduction in the current backlogs in family-based immigration to the United States," said the Muslim Public Affairs Council.
Failing to agree on an immigration reform bill earlier this month, members of Congress and President Bush continue to push various measures meant to deal with the flow of illegals into the country and those already here.
Jorge Rodriguez is a union official who helped organize earlier pro-illegals rallies.
"We want full amnesty, full legalization for anybody who is here (illegally)," Rodriguez told Reuters. "That is the message that is going to be played out across the country on May 1."
As WorldNetDaily reported, large protests held by pro-illegal-alien activists early this month actually had a negative effect on the demonstrators' cause, a poll found.

They've had a guy call into Medved a couple of times now--he goes by Salvador. He keeps threatening unrest and violence the likes we have never seen in America. It made me wonder if some of the radical Latinos aren't thinking about or already teaming up with radical Muslims.

Yesterday, I waited a LONG time getting into the White House Comments Line, but it was worth it (first, the line stayed busy for 30 minutes or so; then, the hold time was 30 minutes or so). A new system lets people hit #1 again to leave a comment on an answering machine, but my perserverance paid off because I reached a most sympathetic ear. When I expressed my view and told personal stories of how illegal immigration has directly affected my family in horrible ways, I then received a kind "I'm sorry." Then, I asked the volunteer whether the telephones lined were tied up because of callers outraged over gas prices or over illegal aliens demanding amnesty, and he said, "No question--99 percent of our callers are CRITICAL of GWB and are calling for rounding up all the aliens TODAY." He added he wasn't supposed to reveal that.The news about gas prices, however, will likely remain higher than that about alien-marching.

I'm praying that the demonstrations on May 1st will be so in-our-faces obnoxious that the whole country will solidify against them, and the wall will go up, literally.

No, Washington is not listening. If you listen closely to the debate, the talking heads are now saying that EVERYONE who wants to come in, should be let in. In short, we will have surrendered our sovereignty. In such an environment, the term "Homeland Security" is an oxymoron.
How did this happen? The politiians have convinced themselves that doing anything real about this problem will result in long term political damage. The fact that big business is stuffing $$ in their pockets to make this happen doesn't help matters (gotta have more consumers--must grow at any cost). The only way to change things is to: 1) Sit on our hands and let the current leadership be voted out; 2) Replace them next election cycle with some young Turks who get the message.
Unfortunately, the time between steps 1 and 2 will be very painful indeed. Futher, the American electorate has been so p*-whipped that success is by no means assured. However, I am at the point where I can't stomach voting for people who consistently sell my interests down the river whenever illegals take to the streets. No backbone, no vote.

I have been wondering the very samething. I hear how these Mexican want a new life, how family orientied they are, hard working and pay taxes. Then I ride thru the town next to me and everything is in Spanish, I get the finger and dirty looks. The gangs are out on the corners and the Mexican flags are hung in the store windows. I dont feel like I am even in America anymore. I dont know who in Washinton is paying attention to the fact most Americans want a secure border and dont want amnesty for illegals. i guess what we want just doesnt seem to mattter. (yet)

AaronPL, IMO you are incorrect on the first statement and 100% right on the 2nd statement.
I am glad they are protesting because they have shown, to those who wish to see, how anti-American they are and how closely knit the movement is aligned with the communist party. The alignment with the communists is a big deal. Wanting an open border is a big deal. Forcing us to pay for their schooling and health care is a big deal.
The shame of all of this still remains that 90+% are great people looking for a better life but have gone and committed a crime to reach that goal. Good hard working people with strong family values should be able to apply in a legal and orderly fashion to work and contribute and become part of the USA. The USA should have have to become part of them.
