NEW YORK (AP) -- Now that immigrants have grabbed the nation's attention, what next?
Monday has been set aside for immigrants to boycott work, school and shopping to show how much they matter to their communities.
But with some growing tired of street protests, and others afraid they'll be deported or fired for walking out, people are planning to support the effort in myriad ways.
Some will work but buy nothing on Monday. Others will protest at lunch breaks or at rallies after work. There will be church services, candlelight vigils, picnics and human chains.
The range of activities shows both how powerful the immigrants' rights movement has become in a matter of weeks, and that organizers don't yet have a clear focus on its next step....
I am FOR IMMIGRATION;
I am AGAINST ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.
Lets make it simple...Criminal Immigrants..i.e. illegal immigrants = "Crimmagrants."
I hope all the protestors get fired.
And didn't you get the memo? Their not only not illegal immigrants, they're not even immigrants, anymore.
Now they're "undocumented workers." Awwww. Isn't that sweet?
Funny, I have 600 employees, in a construction related business, doing very well, in a state "impossible" to do business in, and not even ONE "illegal" on the payroll...
America will see the invaders for what they really are today.
So ICE can come and deport all the protesters...(they won't)
I have a question for our "lawmakers" - Why aren't ICE agents going to be out in force to arrest and deport these invaders from S.America? Why are our "lawmakers" so interested in supporting legalizing these people instead of listening to their constituents - the ones who pay taxes and VOTE!!??
There was a time when I actually was naive enough to believe that crapola that we are a nation of laws and not men - this issue has changed all of that and proven it to be false. At the national level, there is NO WILL to enforce our laws, round these illegal invaders up and send them home.
We have 2 clear choices ahead of us: 1) buy stuff today like money was water and, 2) in November, send every "lawmaker" up for re-election who stands on the side of illegal invasion home. If there is any justice in the world perhaps, one day, they will have to compete with these lawbreakers for the "jobs that Americans won't do".
Rhetorical question: If Bush gets his way and these invaders are given citizenship, won't they become Americans who won't do the work that Americans won't do?

On a personal note?
Me & Mrs. B ( daughter of two whole families of legal immigrants ) have postponed all major household purchases for this day, and we will make a point, when shopping today, of mentioning this little factoid.
Then you must be racist..< /sar>
This is going to be interesting.
Just about all of our cafeteria workers at work are Hispanic. I can't wait to see if any of them are there this morning, or if they're out marching.
You rock dude!
I don't have 600, (that's pretty strong!) but we're all Americans. And like you, I don't have to cheat to be successful.
Criminal Alien.
Fire and/or report an illegal on Tuesday, and for pity sake stop doing business with American's who hire illegals in order to save a buck. We have more power that we think.
"America will see the invaders for what they really are today."
Yes, they will. Tempers are rising though Americans still seem focused on a 'boycott'. Should all hell break loose in crowds of millions, Americans and our leadership in D.C. are going to see the invaders for what they really are, the monster they've created and allowed to fester and grow, who's demands must be met or we are going to have a wakeup call the likes of which we've never seen.
Sounds like the point you're making is FOR illegal immigration. Can't be taken any other way, can it?
You say you are a legal immigrant -- it's just that you do NOT support the laws of this country?
Clarify, please....
