What Did You Like About Former President Reagan?

Posted on 05/01/2006 7:09:36 PM PDT by Xing Daorong

What did president Reagan do that made him one of the greatest conservative icons in American history? Personally, I did not agree with some of his moves but his cutbacks on the size of the federal government made sense to me.

But what about you?

I can honestly say I can't think of much I didn't like about him. He was (is) the greatest!

He defeated Jimmy Carter.

Personally, I did not agree with some of his moves but his cutbacks on the size of the federal government made sense to me.

When did he do that?

I loved the guy, but that was a huge failure on his part. I prefer to concentrate on his massive successes in terms of the economy and the commies.

His testicular fortitude. "Mr Gorbachev, tear down this wall!".

His obvious love for his Nancy, family and country.

I liked the way he talk directly to the people of the Soviet Union much to the dismay of that "government". I wish he was around to encourage the people of China today.

He gave us, with his tax cuts, virtually 25 years of sustained economic growth and job creation.

he also gave us a military that is 2nd to none in the world and will not be equalled in this century at least.

He set a tone from day 1 for the White House and the President. It might sound simple, but he dressed the role. He brought back dignity to the WH (after Carter). GWB has done that too, but it has not been as public as how RWR did it.

I am a bit jaded concerning newbies to this site posting threads....

But I don't mind saying that I did a Google a few days ago concerning quotes...And Ronald Reagan was absolutely amazing.

Try it you'll like it.....

You may be right, but I don't care, it gives us an excuse to talk about RWR.

He was a master at reaching his audience. He also put up with very little sniping from the side lines. He responded to attacks.

Got the economy moving again and took care of the commies; pretty much cleaned up the mess of the previous administration which is what GWB is doing also.

He reminded me a LOT of my Grandfather.

I was only a little kid at the time, but the way my Grandfather and Reagan told stories was EERILY similar.

OK. I'll play. When he got shot, he said to Nancy, "Honey, I forgot to duck."

Reagan whipped the Soviet Union and restored America's economy.

Reagan put pride back in America after years of the left tearing America down. Reagan is the best. Reagan is the reason that I am conservative. Reagan probably save my life by showing me that liberalism doesn't work.

Let's see here. He won the Cold War without firing a shot. He started the greatest economic boom in the history of the world. He warned of the dangers of big government. He reduced the growth of government. He cut taxes. But his most important accomplishment--was the sense of pride, unlimited hope and optimism in the future for all Americans.

To quote our greatest President in his last Oval Office speech, "Not bad--not bad at all"!
