WASHINGTON (AFP) - First Lady Laura Bush broke with husband President George W. Bush, saying she found nothing wrong with a new Spanish-language version of the US national anthem, "The Star-Spangled Banner."
"I don't think there's anything wrong with singing it in Spanish," Bush told CNN television in an interview.

Right!
She lost mine when she started making crude and lewd jokes about Desperate Housewives, etc., and pal'ing around with the liberals at that conference (I think it was last year).
I guess I never thought about how she could be a supporter of this invasion too.
our incompetent leaders in congress continue to allow illegal aliens walk freely among law abiding americans and protest for amnesty. every day on a consistent basis, we allow people who prosper in this country to insult and attack our President (Neil "the Canadian" Young, Springsteen, Jon Stewart, Cobert). We give the world BILLIONS in aid, yet we are insulted and ridiculed and threatened....we allow the desecration of our flag yet won't touch other flags...generals are attacking Rumsfeld, Clinton is trying to save his legacy, Iran laughs in our faces....Russia and China will NOT sanction Iran...oil is out of hand and our first couple cannot agree about the national anthem and how it should be sung? YIKES!!!!
Studied disonance.
By the way, you don't think her husband, who's fluent in Spanish, might have informed her of the meaning of the words they used?
But you know she's going to be asked these types of questions by the press, and she should reply truthfully.
It's bad enough that when she agrees with him, some on the left say she's being the "perfect little wifey".
Just read the actual translation. Nothing Wrong With It At All.
Nothing Wrong With It.
Some of you have gotten so tightly wound about this whole thing that you can't think straight anymore.

I agree with the first lady.
It is important to keep the focus these days on illegal immigration and not on some broader anti-spanish language or anti-immigrant theme.
we have a serious illegal immigration problem - we need to not take our eye off the ball.
Its a little political game called Having It Both Ways. W, his dad and their spouses do the same thing with the abortion issue.
Sure its dishonest, but it must work.
Singing the Anthem in English, if you only know Spanish, makes as much sense as the Latin Mass, or maybe less.
I'm sure there's a reason that this is "news".
Could it be the MSM's bias that "anything undermining Bush is good"?
Bad timing, bad motivation, bad politics. The anthem in Spanish is a plain vanilla politically motivated con.
A yes or no would have done. She just went on and on.
I also found it interesting that she never seemed to even acknowledge that she was disagreeing with him.
Want to bet this is a typical old media set up of Mrs. Bush, just like they set up her mother-in-law during the 1992 campaign. There is nothing wrong with singing the US national anthem is Spanish. There is something very wrong with singing some Spanish language song vaguely similar to the US national anthem to the tune of the US national anthem.

Have you heard of ESL classes? They're free. Can't make it easier than that.
She also secretly believes her husband is boring and jerks off horses.
On my street we are the only family with US flag in front(about 50 households). And i'm LEGAL immigrant. Many people in this country don't understand how lucky they are.Sad...
Rove often scripts Laura to emit the more liberal position. Just one example: the announcement of increased funding for NEA was made by Laura. There isn't a media blitz about Laura taking the liberal line but the northeastern liberal wing of the GOP finds it reassuring to hear that the Bush's really are 'one of them' and are just pandering to the rubes with all that conservative talk.
Open mouth, stick in foot.
NO WAY are they like the Clinton's. Sorry, but I couldn't not comment on that one!
