A policy against invoking the name of Jesus Christ? In the CHAPLAIN CORPS???

What the hell is wrong with the DOD? Who is setting these assinine policies? This is pure idiocy, not to mention an attack on freedom of religion in the armed forces. One size fits all chaplains, for all faiths? Standing orders not to invoke the name of God, be it Jesus Christ, Yaweh, or Allah? For CHAPLAINS?

My grandmother says the Devil is very busy lately. Maybe I should start believing her...

The military has always relied upon the brave few who choose to "fall upon their swords". The US Army had Billy Mitchell and now The US Navy has this chaplain.

Good on him!

It is a very sad day, a very dishonorable day, a day that makes me ashamed that my military is doing this, when the United States military will court martial a chaplain for praying. If that is going to be the damned rule, why the hell do they even allow the military to have chaplains.

I can never forget those old WWII war footages where military chaplains are praying with soldiers/marines about to go into combat, with the men on the knees, heads bowed.

This sickens me to the core.

I served in the 60's and even then the military did not allow one to protest in uniform.

It's against the UCMJ to appear at political rally or protest event in uniform. This chaplain had every right to be there and pray, so long as he did so in civvies.

**Navy Chaplain May Face Court-Martial For Praying**

Good grief!! A chaplain is supposed to pray.

He messed up by wearing his uniform. But other than that, he's right. Any Christian knows if you aren't praying in the name of Christ, you might as well just pray to your shoe or a rock.
