The first time that happened, Lincoln became President and the Wigs were replaced by the Republicans. The Democrats remained out of power for 20 years. Stand by your values, or no one else will.

In agreement with you about third parties.
I've heard more than I would like from those who preach voting third party day after day. They aren't swaying anyone. I am convinced that they are not really conservatives at all. Just doing their best to split up the vote so the Broom Jockey can win in 2008.
