I can imagine . . .
The link to the thread I posted had 6,742 replies, concluding with the sad announcement of Texas Cowboy's passing. A follow up memorial thread had another 600 to 700 replies.
Well liked. Well remembered. Good to know people cared about someone so much, and still do.
Real good.

Yall have a good time. I wish I could have made it. I have my two little grandson's this weekend and they just don't travel well. Well that isn't exactly true. I don't travel well with them:')

I have just returned from my outdoor range, lighter by 200rnds of 7.62x39 and 250rnds of .22LR.
Amazing how fast you can kill a brick of .22 when you have five Butler Creek 25rnd magazines. The 10-22 remains my favorite "warmer-upper" for a day of target-practice - lets me get the desire for rapid-fire out of my system before switching to the serious ammunition, and gently reminds my body of correct ergonomics and posture.
perfect weather for it - clear and dry and cool in the morning, yesterday's rains having washed the pollen and dust out of the air and dropped the temperature down to what this transplanted Yankee thinks of as ideal.
my shoulder is pleasantly sore. no "dope-rings" this time. I smell of cordite and crushed grass and red clay.
The day's lesson: I really need to practice rapid and reliable magazine-changing on my bull-pup AK... despite using it for some years now, I am still not quite adept at that hook-and-pivot business. the one flaw in the AK design, IMO.
time to break 'em down and clean 'em. a bit early yet for a beer.
hope y'all are having a great time of it.

semi-auto AK47 in a RedStar bullpup kit, bought it like that for a steal as whoever installed the kit screwed the pooch on reassembly (really only one mistake: put the shepherd's crook in upside-down), and have since been gradually customizing it. here's a pic, from a couple of years back (it has mutated a bit since then):

Hope you have a great time together. We enjoyed the out of towners last night. They're a delightful group.
Have they arrived yet?
