I'm more upset with Conservatives than I am with George W. Bush

Posted on 05/08/2006 7:04:26 PM PDT by mwfsu84

If I had told you on 9/11/2001 that we'd go four and half years and counting without another terrorist attack on US soil, would you have believed me?

If I had told you that US-led forces would secure Afghanistan in just a few months...something the Soviets couldn't accomplish in ten years...would you have thought I was crazy?

If I had told you that Saddam was gone, that Khadaffy had renounced terrorism, and that Iraq was on the verge of becoming the second democracy in the Middle East, would have thought I was on medication?

Sometimes in our disappointment of this administration, we often forget some of the positives. The economy is strong. More Americans are homeowners. With tax cuts, we're spending less time working for Uncle Sam.

And if you take those benefits for granted, just imagine how much different things would be under a President Al Gore.

So if the president's stance on immigration and spending upset you - and they do upset me - what are you going to do about it? Stay at home? Nothing could be worse for conservativism. Your non-support will usher in more immigrants, higher taxes, and weaker national security.

If the GOP loses Congress, George W. Bush will be removed from office. Nothing would embolden terrorists more. How can we be counted on to wage an effective war when we can't even decide who our enemy is?

George W. Bush isn't the enemy. But that's exactly the message conservatives will send to the world if they stay at home this November.

If you're upset with W. on immigration - write him, write a Republican Congressman, let him know how you feel. It was conservatives who got Bush to change his mind on Harriet Meirs.

I promise you, a Democratic Congress won't be nearly as responsive to your needs.

Right, big activist government creates wealth. You haven't a clue.

And you have never studied Economics. "Spending" doesn't doesn't work the way you think it does.

And you republibots have nothing but arrogance and insults. You expect everyone else to sell out their own ideals so they can vote for the letter R.

You've become the democrats and you're going to lose because you're too cowardly to make demands of your almighty party.

Go right on ahead and throw some more insults and intimidation out there. It does nothing but solidify my resolve.

Amen. Just try to imagine a country run by a permanent democrat majority.

I agree completely. With democraps, you know what you're getting but the repubbies TALK a big game and then vote like demos. The only one I see in Congress worth a pinch of salt is Ron Paul.

I think you are confusing Republican Spending with Democrat usual spending. Not all "spending" is the same.

I agree completely. If I'm going to be ignored by either party, then I will reward the one who is more honest with me.

So long as the Republicans act like Democrats and pretend to be conservatives, I'm goin got go vote for the real deal.

How is the drug "benefit" different from Democrat spending as usual?

Here's where the blame lies - the big government conservatives got too greedy and are driving out the classic liberals. Well enjoy your party boys. Let's see what you can accomplish by yourselves.

We need to deport the trolls.

Onyx.. you are absolutely right. We need a wall. The wall will "solve" everything. Right, lol! This is a great idea for a teaching moment -- especially to be tried on those who inject "the wall" into every single thread in FR!!!

Give 'em what they keep asking for -- a WALL! They refuse to understand that the owner of this site has made clear the purpose of FR -- nope, these keep "jumpin" over those words to be here to do.. what? :)

There's not much distance between Nader and, say, Oly Snowe or Lincoln Chaffee.

Better to have a Democrat than another Arlen Specter or Lincoln Chafee in the Senate.

2004 signup and a blatantly stupid assertion. Now I know you emerged fully formed from a seminar. (Alternatively, the NJ toxic waste - never mind.)

We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse,

The republicans are working at cross purposes of the owner of this site.

The republicans are working at cross purposes of the owner of this siteWrong.

Jim is no fool; he's quite wise. And he has made clear his views on this matter of voting.

You, OTOH, have made it quite clear that you are in FR to "harvest" votes for your anything-but-Republican candidate. And call yourselves "principled" while doing so and in Jim Robinson's forum.

Nonsense. Taking votes away from the GOP is the only way to incentivize it to move rightward, in order to regain our votes ensure that the Democrats win.

Is that what you folks really want? Because that's exactly what you'll get.

I'm afraid many of you "I'm taking my ball and going home" crowd have very short memories. I don't think you realize just how dangerous the Democrats can be.

The Jihadists know full well that the dems will do nothing to protect this country from another terrorist attack.

The Mexicans know that the dems will allow even MORE illegal immigration.

The liberals know that the dems will raise taxes and spend even MORE money that George Bush has done.

And you and your crowd are doing everything you can to help them.

Rather than try to segment the issues, wouldn't it simplify things if GWB united the party by taking an anti-amnesty position? This is the first time GWB and I have parted on an issue and I am angry about it. I am not conservative, in fact much more liberal than I will admit, however, I am loathe to understand his position on this issue. It's the first time I'm asking myself WTF is he doing over there?

By taking the postion he has, isn't it HE who has divided the party, not only risking losing in November, but risking impeachment and risking losses in the war on terror?

We ARE conservatives; just not your "type."

So, you think Ken Mehlman was talking about making amends with YOU? Hell, you've been on here saying that you've got everything you could ever want from the President and the Republicans in Congress. Why would Mehlman have to make amends with you to get your vote? You're not making any sense.

They have to be elected and the majority of "RINOS" in congress come from states that whose GOP voters are "RINOS".

Worth repeating. I have problems with the Repub's (Mostly the Senate Repubs) lack of courage and fight but voting them out of committee chairmanships is a dangerous move considering what will take their place.

Disgruntled conservatives, focus your energy on what Texasforever pointed out. We need to get rid of Democrats in conservative areas.

How many red States are there? Look at the Senate makeup if Republicans from those States are elected from there.

We have at least one liberal Senator in Florida, Indiana, Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico (Get rid of fraud solid red State), North Dakota, South Dakota, and West Virginia.

Come on people wake up, before you abandon the Repubs at least fight to get rid of 'Rats in States where they fool the electorate into thinking they are "conservative".

Read this and weep unless the Republican Party gets back to The Gippers vision:

Conservative Disaffection

That AP-Ipsos poll wasn’t the only one showing warning signs about conservative discontent. USA Today/Gallup:

Bush’s fall is being fueled by erosion among support from conservatives and Republicans. In the poll, 52% of conservatives and 68% of Republicans approved of the job he is doing. Both are record lows among those groups.
(Hat tip: NRO)

Perhaps El Presidente will try to fix the problem by pushing even harder for the McKennedy amnesty. After all, everyone knows that the conservative base loves amnesty for illegal aliens!
