I'm more upset with Conservatives than I am with George W. Bush

Posted on 05/08/2006 7:04:26 PM PDT by mwfsu84

If I had told you on 9/11/2001 that we'd go four and half years and counting without another terrorist attack on US soil, would you have believed me?

If I had told you that US-led forces would secure Afghanistan in just a few months...something the Soviets couldn't accomplish in ten years...would you have thought I was crazy?

If I had told you that Saddam was gone, that Khadaffy had renounced terrorism, and that Iraq was on the verge of becoming the second democracy in the Middle East, would have thought I was on medication?

Sometimes in our disappointment of this administration, we often forget some of the positives. The economy is strong. More Americans are homeowners. With tax cuts, we're spending less time working for Uncle Sam.

And if you take those benefits for granted, just imagine how much different things would be under a President Al Gore.

So if the president's stance on immigration and spending upset you - and they do upset me - what are you going to do about it? Stay at home? Nothing could be worse for conservativism. Your non-support will usher in more immigrants, higher taxes, and weaker national security.

If the GOP loses Congress, George W. Bush will be removed from office. Nothing would embolden terrorists more. How can we be counted on to wage an effective war when we can't even decide who our enemy is?

George W. Bush isn't the enemy. But that's exactly the message conservatives will send to the world if they stay at home this November.

If you're upset with W. on immigration - write him, write a Republican Congressman, let him know how you feel. It was conservatives who got Bush to change his mind on Harriet Meirs.

I promise you, a Democratic Congress won't be nearly as responsive to your needs.

"Toomey, btw, has come out strong in support of Rick Santorum."

Much to my chagrin.

What list is that???

Watch it. You'll end up on the "double dog dare you" list.

You're safe if you're only on "The List." It's the Evil Eye that's very dangerous. Yoy'll need to wear a sprig of garlic, carry a cross, wooden stake, and be packing with cartridges firng silver bullets.

The reason that Bush & the Repub Party are in such a disarray is because of their pandering, capitulating & appeasing of Dims, libs & lefties. Just for once it would be nice to see Bush & the Repub Party come out swinging in favor of convervative policies & views.

Why do you care what the Republican Party does? You're not a Republican...and if you aren't working to defeat Democrats you're not a conservative. Buzz off!

"I'm so tired of the immigration zealots"..

And I am so tired of the immigration ostriches who can't get their head out of the sand.

Silencing others won't make it go away. You'll are going to be in shock, when it's determined Illegal Immigration is the single issue why we lost our elections...Won't even matter even if this entire board held their nose and voted GOP.

And, no, fighting terrorists should have been (and was) the first thing done on 9/11.

You really think sending your military across the world while leaving your doors wide open is a smart way to fight a terrorists war? Your love for W is warping any clear thinking. He's been lax at protecting our Country, the front and back doors are wide open....that's pretty damn scary to me.

OTOH, think of how the prospects for Republicans in 2008 and far beyond could be vastly improved if the American people had a taste of a 'rat dominated house run by Pelosi for 2 years.

Yeah. That's right. Let's drink nuclear waste for two years. That water will taste good, if we ever get to taste it again.

If I tell you my grandparents lived next door to the Nixon's in Whittier and that my Aunts Elva and Nina were little Dicks first playmates, can I stay off your big, bad list too. Huh... Huh????

LOL. What would make you think that poll means much?

Anyone can sign up to vote "as a member." Honestly, it has all the credibility of Washington State King County provisional ballots.

**Getting rid of a select few will not do the job. See, the problem isn't them. It's the people who buy them once they get in office**

If you believe that, what's the point of having a Congress at all? The money's always going to be there. Sending new people will only allow new people to be bought off. (According to your theory, I mean.)

**As it stands now, can you really have any confidence in the person you send to Washington, given what we are seeing now?**

Yes. I have complete confidence in most of the Republicans and complete confidence in my President.

**Can you really say you are in favor of the expansion of government that the current crop of REPUBLICANS have overseen?**

Do you really prefer what the DEMOCRATS will do?

**Can you really believe that having watched them drag their feet on immigration they are going to do anything other than to cook up some sham of a plan that will involve more waste, and achieve limited results at best?**

As I recall, I've already stated I'm not an immigration zealot. You can discuss immigration with someone else.

Don't you understand, if you are against Bush than you are a "true" Conservative. You get some sort of decoder ring or something for being a "true" Conservative. Makes you wonder why they don't run for office since their always right. The rest of us just don't measure up.

Pray for W and Our Troops

Right on! Thanks for taking the time to put your thoughts in writing.

A couple of added thoughts:

If you had told them how few casualties had been experienced in the Afghanistan and Iraq campaigns, you would have been called delusional. Same with all the Iraqis going to the polls. And on and on.

George W. Bush is a good man and a good president; probably the best in my lifetime in very difficult conditions. I'm glad to say I've supported him every step of the way, despite a few things here and there that did not match my agenda. This is a crucial time, and he needs and deserves our support.

You keep seeing things that I did NOT write. I NEVER said I was not voting, voting for a democrat, or voting third party. I only said that too many people including the person who started this little tirade are drinking kool-aide if you don't think there is a problem and that a lot of people are pissed off.

I think its a Bush family trait apparently. His father did the same thing.

If the party stayed out of primaries, allowed primaries to occur, then maybe I could agree with you. But in PA, the party doesn't allow real primaries to occur. They quashed the Specter-Toomey primary

How was the Specter-Toomey primary quashed?

I thought both candidates were on the primary ballot.

BTW in '86 didn't Reagan endorse Specter in the primary?

Actually, since the Democrat Party is the Death Party (abortion, euthanasia, ad nauseum), would it be out of bounds to say, that some people in this forum SUPPORT DEATH and wish to prevent illegals from experiencing the death of the US? lol.

I refer to these as Faux Conservatives.

Doodlelady refers to these as "Democrats in Conservative Clothing (DICCS). :)

Every time I read one of their GREAT BLUSTERS, I am reminded of Howard Dean.

When known "conservatives" began crapping on President Bush over "illegal immigration" -- I got to observe the "hUFFY Ones" being driven, like cattle, to find a leader. Once that leader (whether talk show host, columnist, etc.) "let them down", they'd begin rattlin away in their support for "someone else".

ON a light note, I begin to suspect there's a major plan gone down to drive these people Out of their Minds -- and so they'll go to the party they really belong -- DEMOCRAT.

It's been a great plan, IMHO, to drive the whackos out of the Republican Party. And the "them" have taken the bit beautifully.

You make it seem as though President Bush would just roll over and play dead at whatever the 'rats tossed at him.

He cannot wage war without congressional support. You folks want a dictatorship not a republic. Bush has a constitutionally defined role as does congress. If Bush is faced with a congress led by democrats that hate him with heat of hell itself they can exercise their constitutional powers and cut off funding to the war at any time. They wouldn't care one whit about the consequences OR how middle America felt about. You had better wake up because there is no level toolow for the democrats to sink to.

"I'd like to suggest that people go to the movies and then decide how they will vote"

I would then vote for whomever is going to secure the borders, deport the illegals, and continue to effectively and proactively fight the war on terror.

So how would I vote?
