Tancredo Rips Government’s Spying of Minutemen

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressmen Tom Tancredo (R-CO) decried a recently-disclosed U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) practice of tipping off the Mexican military to the location of Minutemen volunteers. According to a story in this morning’s Inland Daily Bulletin, CBP notifies the Mexican government of when and where the Minutemen are planning to monitor the border and if violence is used by the Minutemen against illegal aliens. There has not been one verified instance of Minutemen volunteers using violence against illegal aliens.

“The Mexican military doesn’t exactly have a ‘good government’ reputation. The Border Patrol has documented more than two hundred incursions into the U.S by the Mexican military, and Texas sheriffs even apprehended Mexican government vehicles that were used to ferry drug runners across the border. By tipping off Mexico’s military to the Minutemen’s location, the U.S. government is asking for trouble,” said Tancredo.

“Heavily-armed military officials stationed only yards from civilians are at least intimidating. I can only surmise that the Border Patrol bureaucrats’ spying is meant to have a chilling effect on the Minutemen’s recruitment of more volunteers,” said Tancredo.

“The Minutemen haven’t been accused of breaking the law. Quite the contrary—they have gone out of their way to aid law enforcement and ensure the safety of our border. The U.S. government has no grounds upon which to stifle the Minutemen’s constitutional right to organize,” Tancredo concluded. “I want to know the legal basis for CBP informing a foreign government of the activities of private citizens who are obeying the law.”

Why shouldn't a state or states declare soverienity at this point since the Feds have abdicated any border responsibility? Why not send a state militia to the border? We are being invaded.

It is not about right, wrong, should, or shouldn't; if you want to win you need to build a broad base of support; and, that means forcing the other side to play the role of the bad guy. Put the citizens on the border as well meaning innocent Americans doing their patriotic duty, and let Bush viciously attack them. He is going to have to since he is in Vicente's pocket; and, committed to keep the border open through lawful or unlawful means. When he acts you record the attack and use it as an American version of Tianamem Square.

The Patriot Act was written by (new Conservative Heros?) Andrew Young and Gary Hart. FReepers seem very upset when I criticize the Act and its Authors.

"The worst part is that the GOP isn't going to even get the votes out of this. The Balkanization of the country just for cheap labor and to fulfill a NWO fantasy is criminal."

Well put, my friend.

Our Republican reps in AZ keep trying to do so and our democratic Governor keeps vetoing the bills.

Border states hava a special responsibilty to the interior states. If the Feds won't and AZ Nat. Guard won't then who? All it takes is one Governor with B---s.

"Oops I forgot Cong. tancredo worked there for 12 years, why would he put his comrades out of work."

Nice try Dane.. but the article is about the Government acting in a illegal and improper manner.. and if anyone is protecting his comrades, all one has to do is look towards your President.. end of story..

It's a little bit different when your government attempts to set up citizens to be killed in a confrontation with invading Mexican soldiers, and that is just what D.C. is hoping for. To make an example of what happens to average citizens who dare to impede their globalist plans.

I have had so much come up this week, but I'm sitting here thinking of how to get to D.C. and join the Minute Men March on the 19th. I really think it important that as many people as possible show up in support. A small turn out is hurting us at every turn, the four or five times we have shown up for a demonstration that is.

The April 2006 issue of NewsMax article on Laura -- under things you didn't know about her quoted Ronald Kessler with saying when she met George Bush she was on the liberal side.... the article also mentions that she is against the overthrow of Roe V Wade (which we all knew)...

"Oh come on, even on the Mexican side of the border, all they need is a cheap set of binoculars to find out where they are."

You mean to say that Americans are acting in a open, law abiding manner.. now why would the Federal Government, act in an illegal manner in regards to Law Abiding Citzens... next..

This country is still paying for slave labor 140 years later, how long will it pay for this invasion of labor?

Up until I saw this story I supported The Patriot Act...

Why? Hasn't it been obvious from the first that this type of action was the primary purpose of the PA? Next year the Border Patrol can track the RFID chips in the National ID Card [paranoid mode=OFF] (well maybe that didn't work.)

National ID; surveillance everywhere; Patriot Act; how will President Rodham use these to Protect The Children?

Well, if the Illegal invaders are warned where NOT to cross, our Minutemen won't be able to "find out where they are" cause they'll just take another route...(say duh..)

It's a deliberate sabotage of the Minutemen's mission. Any idiot can determine that.

And so is Nancy Reagan. Time for you to trash Reagan if you wish to be consistent.

Remember, the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots. If they start to come for the guns, then you know it's on.

I shudder at the thought of the country going through that, again... I still remember all the Watergate hearings (and that was before Cable TV) and then Monicagate, the dems will never rest until they get one-ups-manship -- I just hate that our President keeps playing into their hands.

Re #125 -

"GA has just put into place laws to cut off social benefits to illegals and to require employers to verify citizenship."

Hoo-Rah to GA then!

I hope you also passed a prohibition on illeagals VOTING in your elections, as they are sure to vote in droves up here in Maine and other Sanctuary States.

But what happens when the Fedarales say "Oh NO!; you can't DO that"....

And GA replies, "The hell we can't; we just DID!"

And Washington says "Wer'e sending Federal Marshalls down to MAKE you restore that welfare to illeagals and leave those Employers alone!..."

Will we see Old Dixie rise again when they do?

Will Presidante George Bush hesitate to re-Shermanize Georgia if it does?

Stay tuned, Y'all!

This could get rather interesting.
