"Tough", "smart" are good. "Robust" is good, although its getting close to the multisyllabic slope. In other words, if the Dems take control in 06 and 08, we're screwed.
To: Aussie Dasher
They're going to run Bayh. He'll bring indiana's elctoral votes to close the gap, because Hoosiers will vote for that guy no matter what he says. He's smooth, too. He's very close to Bill Clinton on the charm and political leanings, and he doesn't have moral problems to weigh him down. The fear about Hillary becoming the next president should really be directed at this guy, because he's the candidate. I don't care what the dem polls say. Watch every position he takes in the next two years very closely.

Thank you for the comment on Bayh's unfitness for office. I hope you will put together a list of items people can use to evaluate and use to counter people who are supporting Bayh.
I hope you will post them on FR so we will have that information.

I hope you'll keep us current on any Bayh campaign. It helps us know and understand him.
As to Bayh being a candidate, who knows? I do know a national race is far different from local races. Bayh gets passes in his home state that will not be so easy on a national level.
Kerry found this out the hard way. A slam dunk in MA, Kerry was exposed nationally as a fraud and he failed.

The mans a liar, a fraud and he'll smile as he sells your soul. That sums up the entire RAT party; they talk a good game - until they are in office - and then they revert to type - flaming socialist SOB's.

Republicans are going to be the picky ones this time around. Dems are hungry, and they'll vote for the candidate even if the candidate is not far left enough. I think we have 11 electoral votes here in Indiana, and they are a lock for Bayh if he runs. Far leftists look at Bayh like many Republicans look at McCain, but they will vote for him if it comes down to it, IMHO.

"we can be both tough and smart"
"Can be?" I guess they are admitting they are not tough and smart now. The more things change the more they don't.

This would actually be a huge embarrassment for the Demagogues if they press didn't give them a pass on it - what does it say about your political party, in an age of mass terrorism, when a few key members become desperate to prove that you can be "tough and smart" (why should there be so many doubts?)???
What does it say about a political party that 4 1/2 years after 9/11 key members admit the party leaders are NOT "tough and smart" and are merely "reactive" (i.e., attack-crazy) toward the President of the USA??? This should be a debacle for the Demagogues, but of course they get away with every bit of b.s. they can throw at the public.

In other words "shut the lunatic Moveon.org Leftist banSheehan wing of the party up until we win in Nov.
then they can run the show". Same old Democrats and their stategy of "How can we fool you all today"?

Extremely doubtful a Bayh style "New New Democrat" candidate could win the 2008 Democrat Primary. Most of the Democrat faithful are totally pissed cause they think their leadership is, no fooling, too "friendly"to the Republicans! Like us, the Democrats have their own 100%ers clans. Problem for the Dems is their 100%ers run their party.

Nope. Cause the Democrat base is not buying this "New Democrat" stick anymore. They want a McGovern type for 2008. Feingold has a really good shot for it now. It will not be Bayh. Same reason it will not be McCain for the GOP. Both are way too far out of touch with the beliefs and values of their base voters to win a major party nomination

It is impossible for Demorats to be smart. The majority of Demorats are liberal:
How can you tell if Bill Clinton is lying? You must be a Demorat if you are not smart enough to figure this one out.
What is the difference between a smart Demorat and Big Foot? There are people who say they have seen Big Foot.
Do you know why people are Demorat? Because it is easier than thinking.
Do you know how many Demorats it takes to screw in a light bulb? None. They think the government should do it for them.
A Republican is a elephant and elephants are smart. A Jackass is a Demorat.

I think you're spot on, unfortunately. The successful Dems will be the most skilled spinners and liars.
Bayh is NO moderate, he's just a skilled politician. Also, he's no more a Hoosier than I am a native of D.C. or Hillary a New Yorker. A resident maybe, but this guy is a suckling from Washington.
He is also dangerous; eliminating the Electoral College for example.
