Man Denied Mother's Day Tote Bag Sues MLB Team
The Indy Channel ^ | May 11, 2006 | AP

SANTA ANA, Calif. -- A Los Angeles man who was denied a red nylon tote bag during a Mother's Day promotion at an Angels baseball game has filed a sex and age discrimination lawsuit against the team.

The class action claim filed by Michael Cohn alleges that thousands of males and fans under age 18 are entitled to $4,000 in damages each because they were treated unequally at last May's promotion.

Women over 18 received the gifts.

Angel officials said Cohn was the only person who complained about the giveaway and that the team is proud of its promotions.

This weekend's Mother's Day promotion will offer tote bags to the first 25,000 fans over age 18, regardless of their gender.

An Angels spokesman would not say whether the change was in response to Cohn's complaint. But Cohn's lawyer said the altered promotion still violates the civil rights of fans under age 18.

We just had a thread about MLB using pink bats on Mothers Day. Maybe they should give this loser a pink bat ...

I know just where to put it.

But Cohn's lawyer said the altered promotion still violates the civil rights of fans under age 18.

There are some that don't consider anyone under 18 with any rights besides what thier parents tell them they have.

Well, does any MLB team offer a males-only promotion, like say on Father's Day?

Do you think they could get away with it, without the man-haters descending en masse? After all, doesn't fatherhood represent the historical legacy of a patriarchal oppressive society?

All right now, who stole Dr. Metrosexual Hyphen Man's padoobies? Please return them in a red nylon tote to the Angels front gate, or else I will file a civil rights complaint because I am offended when supposed males walk around and more, talk without their padoobies.

If anyone is at the Angel's park on Mother's Day, please grab one of the pink "awareness" bats being forced upon MLB and pound the snot out of any sissy man who shows up at the main gate looking for his padoobies in a red nylon tote bag. Swing for the fences!

Ohhhh! Major legal slapdown coming.

The class action claim filed by Michael Cohn alleges that thousands of males and fans under age 18 are entitled to $4,000 in damages each because they were treated unequally at last May's promotion. Women over 18 received the gifts.

IMHO, the claimants may lack legal standing.

The bags were given to women OVER 18 but not to men UNDER 18.

Under civil law, the 'men' have not reached their majority and have no civil 'person' to stand in court for them UNLESS their parents are the claimants in the class action.

If the team had an 18 year old age limit, they're covered.

Personally, I wish they'd pass out 25,000 bags and let everyone take a whack at this stupid socialist wanker!

:-)

Leftists hate mother's day. They hate father's day. They hate mothers and fathers. They hate the traditional family even though it is the norm in all cultures all over the world.
Leftists would destroy our society so that they can replace it with a leftist paradise (communism).

Well, does any MLB team offer a males-only promotion, like say on Father's Day?

The Texas Rangers did last year. I took my Dad to the game and we each got a grilling set that included a pair of barbecue tongs, a nice heavy-duty spatula, and a basting brush. This year the only promotion on Father's Day is a "Sunday Sundae" special wherein kids under 13 get an ice cream sundae for a dollar.

My understanding was that the pink bats were made available only to the players who requested them (and they had a difficult time meeting all the requests). I hope Kevin Mench hits 3 home runs with the pink bat that he requested. His mother, like mine, passed away from breast cancer, so I consider him a kindred spirit.
