How do we win the peace????

Gotta win those "hearts and minds." If/when the third-worlders realize with the whole of their hearts and minds that crossing the border is just too difficult and risky, and that even if they get here successufully they'd be hardpressed to find (illegal) work, leech welfare goodies off the American taxpayer, and anchor their babies to automatic U.S. citizenship, we'll finally be making some progress.

Lotta work to do.

I'm pretty sure the administration leaked this tidbit.

Heh.

Republicans. They only know a public relations opportunity when it smacks them in the face. Every Republican in the House and Senate should be out and about cackling about Harry Reid's assertion that making English our language is discrimination.

The admin knew it had to get a time length for those border guards out there. Cause one of the first cynical things us idiots out here in la-la land said was "How long is this going to last?"

Heh.

I'm in a pensive mood this evening. Challenge me.

The AP and CNN are reaching the point of desperation. CNN reported yesterday that Bush wants the price of first class postage to increase by ten cents to 49 cents in order to slough off the cost of retirement benefits for military wounded in Iraq.

This is going to prove untrue. Many of the stories on AP are obviously false as one reviews them.

CNN and the AP are desperate to see Bush impeached to do a big payback for Klintoon's impeachment.

It's part of the deal with North Korea (sarcasm on dead NY SLimes headline from yesterday).

He proposed deploying 6,000 troops at a time to the border in two-week rotations.

I think he said up to 6000. That means there may only be 6, 60 or 600. Little late if you ask me.

Absolutely. ...and they should be doing so enthusiastically, without fear. Reid made it easy for them by playing the "racism" card inappropriately. Language has nothing to do with race -- there are English and Spanish speakers of every color.

It is good only if the fence is built...

I disagree! A fence can be tunneled under or climbed over. The cost alone not to mention the eyesore it will create is just not feasble! A better alternative......MINE THE BORDER! Mines are much much cheaper, last for decades, can't be tunneled under very well and are a very effective message to send to Mexico!

You throw out allegations without any verification, quotes, links or anything. Why should anyone bother to challenge you?

Sh#t stinks but not half as much as the AP.

I believe nothing from the AP unless it's confirmed from a source I trust.

And they will do what? Go shopping south of the border, study spanish, enjoy the warm weather? As they won't have any actual role in protecting the border, won't be armed and won't be able to detain/arrest any illegals, can't see that they will be much good other than try to give Pres. Bush some cover and say he is doing something, no matter how "Clintonness" it may be.

Good fences make good neighbors. All we need is affirmative control.

Right. Congress funded 2,000 new border agent slots, and Bush actually hired around 300.

Until he shows some serious efforts at real border control, I remain skeptical at the rhetoric coming out of Congress or the WH.

What? No exit plan? How do we win the peace????

National Guard on the border is not going as advertised. It is a flawed policy wrapped in illusion. The American public is way ahead of us. The National Guard have done all they can in on the border, but it is time for a change in direction. Our National Guard is suffering. The future of our country is at risk. We cannot continue on the present course. It is evident that continued National Guard is not in the best interests of the United States of America, the or Mexico.

President Fox said "the perception of National Guard on the border is a major driving force behind illegal immigration".

My plan calls:

Our National Guard has done everything that has been asked of them, the U.S. can not accomplish anything further on the border. It is time to bring them home.

It wasn't left out.

The memo sent Friday to Guard leaders went further, stating that units would remain in a "federally funded" mission for "up to one year, with a force reduction to 3,000 during the second year."

Oh my.

I thought this was like a forum for people to express their thoughts. Silly me.

I contributed to the discusstion. Don't be small.

OK, how does one discuss this? You put it out there.

I'm pretty sure the administration leaked this tidbit.

I think you're wrong.

That was fun.
